BREAKING NEWS: ... this just in from our technology correspondents out of our NYC offices.
"Windows XP SP2 Still Rough Around the Edges" - and that's putting it lightly.
How does this sound to you guys? You install Windows XP Service Pack 2, expecting to take advantage of all the nifty new security features. After the customary "please restart your computer for the new settings to take effect" dialog box, you click "ok" and play the waiting game. Only this time, your windows boot procedure is rudely interrupted by -- GASP! -- a BSOD !! That's right folks, you've just become one of the 60% of victims who cannot use the new service pack! Why?? Who knows? Microsoft won't tell...
So what happens if you're a "victim"? Well, according to the kind folks at Microsoft, you must go through a lengthy procedure which ends up de-installing both Service Pack 1 and 2 from your system. Oh, and one more thing. It deinstalls all of your device drivers, your system resources, registry entries, and other things that make your computer ... well ... usable. So you can either go through the process that Microsoft prescribes, only to have to reformat anyways, or you can just skip to step 2 and reformat.. It's your choice...
