Well, in the "Is Gordon mute?" thread, i said that you actually can see your own feet (Gordon's) at the end of Half life 1 - but a few of you guys said i was talking BS !!! :hmph:

So.. im here to post the truth... ( and i wasn't lying !!!:frown:)

First of - I said that you can see your own feet, at the end of HL1, by just putting on your flashlight when (or before) stepping into the portal. The Camera will then scroll down - where you can see the G-man talking (saying: "Wisely done.. missster freeman. I will sssee you up ahead.) and then your own feet (which is very pointy).

Okay - the proof:

ewwww the hi-def pack sucks. Might also be the reason behind the feet, I'll boot up a pure version of HL and take a look.

^ Actually I can't since I've lost my HL saves and loading the map doesn't give you the HEV suit for the flashlight. Although in my travels I did see the Gonarch which made me really want to play HL again.

I took a look in HL:S, the instant you enter the portal the screen goes black, flashlight or not.

well this is in the original half life, not HL:S. even before i got the hi-def pack - i could still see his feet ;)

Operational, use impulse 101, will give you the suit.

Don't forget the "r_fullbright 1" command.

so... does all this mean anything? or is it just a sort of easter-egg?

What's that supposed to mean?
Of course it's an easter egg.

It's Half-Life with High Defination Pack.

yeah - its the high definition pack.

if this helps: its half life 1 - which is updated to version 1.1

edit: @ druckles - here's a pic of the gman in half life 1... they look the same

When at the end of the game, the first person view camera has left the body of Gordon. In laymen terms, your in freelook but frozen.

It's just you can see it with the light turned on, otherwise the credit screen and the black out would block it.

Blah Blah Blah

just tried it with the r_fullbright set to "1"
he's right...i toggled it on and off. i don't think you're supposed to see that part but it's possible

I don't really know why but there's a camera entity controlling player's view in that scene.

My theory on this is that the game tries to equip the player with things that he had on the previous map or something (like it does when you change maps, between loadings), but it is unable to equip the suit so it just drops it at the same place where the player is, therefore you've got a floating suit.

I don't remember much how the ending exactly goes (I know, it's a shame), so I'll have to replay it.

This is true , you can even hear it at the start of new chapters (the batery pick up sound and the weapon selected) and i once had a glitch where it froze at the start of a new chapter and i could clearly see the items falling "inside" of me.

You can probablly see his feet because the Gordon in HL1 actually uses a player model (I'm pretty sure it does anyway) And, what Naph was saying, the camera has actually exited the player model and since you bend it to look down you can see his feet.

The player model is also the reason for the gibbing when you fall off somewhere or explode. To be sure about the model type sv_cheats 1; thirdperson.

I did that a while a go in both HL1 and Hl2, I can remember something being shown in HL1 but in HL2 its just a pair of floating arms (aka, the weapons)
