Wolfram Alpha Launched

Thought it said "Wolfman".

Later guys.

Man I've been checking for it to launch every day for the past like 3 weeks.. Today of all day I don't check and it finally gets launched.. I'm going to go check it out now.

Quite awesome indeed.
I tried some of my favourite chemicals and it knows them very well, non-orientable wormhole however doesn't ring a bell.

It's really awesome up until it ****ing freezes..

EDIT: Ok it stopped freezing for some reason, but WOW.

I search Pentatonic Scale and it comes with a pent scale, it shows what notes, where they are on the piano, and even has sounds of what the scale sounds like.. This is actually really sweet.

Takes a bit to load, and sometimes I get a 404, though.. They still got a few bugs, but still.

i think we'll have to wait for the database to build until we can cross reference the plot ratios of internet penises

It can tell you the position of the ISS on a 3d map.

Is it bad the first word I searched was 'penis'?

About Wolfram|Alpha

Goals

Wolfram|Alpha's long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone. We aim to collect and curate all objective data; implement every known model, method, and algorithm; and make it possible to compute whatever can be computed about anything. Our goal is to build on the achievements of science and other systematizations of knowledge to provide a single source that can be relied on by everyone for definitive answers to factual queries.

Wolfram|Alpha aims to bring expert-level knowledge and capabilities to the broadest possible range of people—spanning all professions and education levels. Our goal is to accept completely free-form input, and to serve as a knowledge engine that generates powerful results and presents them with maximum clarity.

Wolfram|Alpha is an ambitious, long-term intellectual endeavor that we intend will deliver increasing capabilities over the years and decades to come. With a world-class team and participation from top outside experts in countless fields, our goal is to create something that will stand as a major milestone of 21st century intellectual achievement.

Status

That it should be possible to build Wolfram|Alpha as it exists today in the first decade of the 21st century was far from obvious. And yet there is much more to come.

As of now, Wolfram|Alpha contains 10+ trillion of pieces of data, 50,000+ types of algorithms and models, and linguistic capabilities for 1000+ domains. Built with Mathematica—which is itself the result of more than 20 years of development at Wolfram Research—Wolfram|Alpha's core code base now exceeds 5 million lines of symbolic Mathematica code. Running on supercomputer-class compute clusters, Wolfram|Alpha makes extensive use of the latest generation of web and parallel computing technologies, including webMathematica and gridMathematica.

stop right there.

Alright, cool shit holmes

Anyone plan to use this for anything?

It can differentiate shit loads of stuff

Will be useful as hell.

When it doesn't crash with every query I put in. I'm on Vista 64 with a q6600 and using Firefox. I guess I'll try with IE and Chrome next.

edit: hell yeah, converting knots to MPH in seconds. awesome. (just a note, doesn't work at all for me on Firefox, have to use IE 64)

Stay away, woman

Oh well, there's always this

Surefire winner

Boo. I thought this thread was about a new and interesting application for or kind of Tungsten.

i think i broke it ... there should be TONS of information on these topics.

First thing I searched is linear algebra (I have a test on this in a few days).

is there a place you can report inaccurate information that site? i have found inaccurate information that should be fixed.

very cool, this is gonna be very useful.

after the initial rush it became much more usable.

This is going to be incredibly useful for classes. It does calculus, physics, diophantine equations, it even does generating functions and does guesses for closed forms for recurrences and sequences.

True, mathematica did all of this, but this is so much simpler and easier to use that I can imagine I will be using this very often.

so is a mathemathic google where yoo can do things like "2+2?,resutl:donkey,:D"?

I tried the most typical question I could think of: Who is the longest man in the world?

No result :o

lol, longest man. Perhaps you should rethink your wording and then you'll get results.

Yeah, you look at that graph, they've lost at least fourteen dollars in stock prices.

I still see their polish at target, though.

Buncha fags.

I could be set for life by now.
