I just ran 5.2 miles in around 35minutes+ :), longest i've ever run on the road. My record on the treadmill is 8500metres in 40minutes.

That's good, congrats. I have yet to start exercising again, GAH!

I ran round the Jupiter's circumference 50 times in under 0.05 milliseconds. Nice try though.

Heh. Guess you were a little tired afterwards?

Were you talking to me or Short Recoil?

I am a little tired, not absolutely exhausted though. Did it in assault boots as well so got a little blister at the back of my left foot :(.

because i was sick, i couldnt go to the gym in 5 days, now i can hardly run 5 min without getting tired =/

Just a joke on Short Recoil's behalf, I'm sure he'll see the funny side.

Any reason for the assault boots? Shensible footwear first! :p

I can barely run 20 seconds without getting exhausted. I'm not the physical type.

I'm Raf Regiment Reserve and i'm getting ready for the annual fitness test in January. And the Raf Regiment are the only troops that can compare with the Royal Marines interms of toughness and abilities to kickarse, apart from the specials that is :).

Longest i've done is around 30 miles (around the "ring" of somerset) took me a few hours lol.

Longest i've done on a treadmill is 1 hour at 11km/h, slight gradient.

I don't run as much as i used to anymore.

I would of thought if you could do a road run of 30miles then you should be able to do much better then that on the treadmill. Still think you should join the marines, or perhaps the raf regiment, and get some of that naked wrestling in :). If not, atleast join the reserves.

[SARCASM]I can run 83 miles in under 3 minutes. :D[/SARCASM]

Well with the treadmill i could have gone on for longer if i didn't have a lesson to go to afterwards, the leisure centre was a stones throw from our college.

I much prefer running whilst actually going somewhere though.

Not joining the forces, my attitude would be a serious problem and they wouldn't "crack" me.......something disastrous would end up happening.

According to this month's Men's Health, part of the initiative tests of Royal Marine Commando's is being able to:

Stop/Start sprint for 13 minutes in 20 meter long lines in time to recorded beeps. The time between beeps goes down each mimnute.

Then, run 3 miles in under 22.5 minutes..

Then, do 60 press-ups in less than two minutes..

Then, 80 sit-ups in less than two minutes..

Finally, perform six or more chinups.

All in one go.

The thing most don't expect is doing all that after doing a lot of other knackering things, the above is what's expected of you after you are fatigued.
They will get you to run round for a few miles first, the assualt course, lots of other constant things to do.

Basically you should aim to do another 20% of the above so you can't be caught out.

Well, you should atleast look into the possibility of joining the reserves and it's only the army that's about breaking people and turning them into a mindless kill bot, everyone else wants you to be able to go into a battlefield and to think for yourselves whilst working as a team.

edit: you even get to shoot real machine guns :p

A year ago I ran about 10K in 40-ish minutes. I was pretty good at long distance running. It's a shame I let it slip..........

royal commando training is hard and long.. its what, 30 some-ought weeks? that sucks. but well worth it from what i hear.

It's the hardest training of any "non specialist" unit in the world.

32 weeks i think, Raf Regiment is 24 weeks, Parachute regiment is 16weeks (6 of which is basic army trainings), Raf basic training for everyone other than regiment is 9 weeks and army basic training is 6 weeks.

Holy shit i just ran 5 miles wearing just a wife beater vest and combat trousers.
It's -1 centigrade out there and very windy (costal)
I found this message took about 5x normal time to type cos my hands are so cold.

It's funny because it's true :D

And you have been running in -1° C with that? :O

That's not very healthy.
Yeah i realised it wasn't good half way through my run (2.5 miles from home) when i stopped to tighten my laces....i found it hard to do them up.
Normally i'd wear a more substantial t-shirt or pullover i'd just been training and went straight out, lol.
