but i'm not sure whether you played the paladin with the new patch? it's completely different to how it was in the first stress test and CB. you only have one default attack and the rest of your skills are signets/seals/buffs etc. completely changes how you play.

sort of. back then was when my art exam was going on and i had LOADS of prep work to do (i still do have exams, from monday to friday are my mocks :/ ) and so i couldn't play it. however i tested all the new stuff out for like an hour. it cost me like 7 gold to get all my abilities back :/ tbh i didnt like the change that much, probally because i had been playing with my character fro so long it just felt unnatural.

btw dedalus, how did you get to level 26 in a couple of days? i mean, did you play it every singe hour of the day lol? i seem to remember it took me like 10 days to get up to level 26, but that was for like 2 or 3 hours a day, and for like 7 hours at weekends. i probally spent about 30 hours on that character in total.

but quite a lot of the time i was mining and making money, when i reached level 26 i had 50 strength plus 50 from my armour, giving me 100 in total. nearly all of my other atribbutes were almost doebled due to my excessive habit in buying blue items at the auction  you see an average day for me would be spending 1/2 an hour killing things, 1 and 1/2 hour going around questing with people, then another hour mining copper and selling a stack (20 peices) for 50 silver - 1gold at the aution. i would sit around the auction for ages just outbidding people and gaining more items :) if there was ever such a thing as a paladin who was more magic item than human, i was him. i swear i could have beaten a level 30 guy if we both had equal spells ;)

it didn't take me 2 days to get to 26! took me just under a week. this was when i didn't have much work to do and i was dead bored. i spent practically all my time on levelling and doing quests, i neglected my professions though :/

halfway through lvl 26 the server started to get really laggy with that item bug, so i switched to the one where the hl2.netters were. if i'd spent longer i could've got to lvl 30 at least! :D not that difficult, just have to know what to do for the quests.

Is WoW founded solely on beating endless hordes of monsters to level up and fight hordes of harder monsters, or is there more to it than that?

Well i won't lie, yeah its based on just killing monsters, then more monsters mainly...but it has got a story behind it, each city has a story behind it that isn't thrown in your face. Killing endless monsters does'nt feel like a grind though and many have said, and i agree, this is the first MMO where it does'nt feel like a grind to level. It's not got any mind boggling puzzles, but the story seems complex for those who want to follow it.

Basically its got your basic MMO quests, either killing monsters and getting X items. Killing X number of monsters. Taking X item to Y person, then to W person. Killing X boss making you have to kill the stuff before it (usually a cave type place or instance) like one quest, you have to kill a leader called Van Cleef but to get to him is hard enough and takes quite a while. They might sound pretty basic or boring on here but ingame they are all really quite fun and don't feel like a chore to do.

I like that so many fellow Hl2ians are gonna play WoW :)

I myself was so lucky to get the last pre-order box from my local Ebgames.. and a CE edition hehe :)
Now i just cant wait to play.. come on Blizzard start the beta :D

The last day way ace. I was at the stormwind event on test24. Never seen so many people all in one place at the same time, and just countless bones everywhere. It was'nt quite as hectic as this server at stormwind was but it was still a good laugh getting hit from a polyed Dreadlord for 1400 a hit. Pic1 Pic2.

Edit/ Oh it was really cool how the sky got darker and darker as the event went on. Really made it atmospheric.

I'm in two minds about wether to get this game or not... Most likely i'd only sign up for a month, is it easy to cancel?

i expect you'd just send an email to the billing department telling them after your subscription runs out you don't wish to renew it.

you get one month free when you buy the game anyway, so you don't actually start paying for subscription until the first month is over.

It's even easier than that. You create an account using a credit card, leave a couple hours (JUST incase), cancel account on wow website. Account becomes un-usable after your payed time runs out but exsists forever to be renewed whenever you want if you wanted to go back.
