Is world of warcraft fun is it worth the $15 a month Ive been thinking of getting it

but I dont want to get to addicted to it.

Is it easy to learn I usually dont play these types of games but I did get untold legends the warriors code for the psp

is it anything like that cause I actually kinda liked that game but didnt like playing it on that small of a screen.

NOOOOOOOOOO! /vader

But yeah, don't get it unless you want to lose your life. To Blizzard.

Yes.

(see, I can make statements without nuance as well, WoW haters)

I play it a lot and it is very fun. It's an easy game to learn and there is a plethora of support sites out there. The game is pretty fun but once you reach max lvl(takes 2-3 months of playing a few hours a day) the fun really starts.

Don't. Waste of money, you have better things to do.

Like actually go outside and socialize.

Don't fall into the grasp of Blizzard! Resist! Resist! Resist!

Don't do it! It's like a drug: you can quit, but it will never stop calling your name.

Stay away... stay as far away as you can...

Pick up EverQuest + expansions for a little over $50 and play a proper MMO

Indeed, but I would just like to announce my retirement from the World of Warcraft either way.

I really love WoW, but it feels like my days in it are coming to a close.

After taking a long break from it, I'm finding myself to spend so much time catching up with the rest of my guild. And after missing the launch of the last content patch, I missed the boat on being able to go through all the new quest chains and loot that came through it. On top of that, the lore is killing me.

I got addicted to World of Warcraft for a year, but I'm still glad I played the game. Looking back it would have been nicer to have a bit more social life. But I still don't regret playing it. I made some cool friends all over Europe and even though I don't stay in contact with them now it was nice for a while. My life has returned to normal though, which I like :D But ye... wouldn't say I would take back the time I lost to the game :p

My brother has no family or social life thanks to WoW. He's out of control, and although my mom realizes that and tries to limit his playing time, my dad lets him play all he wants because of ulterior motives.

I hate that game, not only for helping degrade my brother's life (my parents and he himself are responsible as well), but also for the reason that the game itself sucks. I found it boring, repetitive, unimaginative, and completely lacking in immersiveness.

You could spend the $15/month on something better.
Paypal it to me.

Nah, the golden age of WoW is long gone, no matter how many of those '8 million' or so people are supposed to still be playing it.

All you have now is thousands of lvl70s sitting around in the cities doing bugger all, and/or those same people starting lvl1 characters and rushing through the content.

WoW is a great game, but play it for a few weeks and you'll realise its completely shallow and lacking in so many ways.

Save your money and wait till something new comes out.

It wasn't to begin with, I remember the days of Crossroads vs Ashenvale. I think its down to the way you level up that causes what you say. World of Warcraft has mastered many good types of gameplay, but it also has its flaws.

Ah yes.

WoW is the most popular MMO currently. It sucks!
WoW has millions of subscribers who pay recurrent fees so they can keep playing. They're wasting their time and money!

You people need to lay off the Hatorade.

I've spent over 200 days (24 hour days) logged onto my computer playing WoW over a couple of years.

So that basically means I spent 1/3 of my life for two years logged onto my computer playing WoW. Note that 1/3 is usually reserved for sleeping, so 1/3 is everything else. That's a lot of time no matter how you shake it, and too much time.

I don't necessarily regret playing the game, it was a good learning experience; I can't handle playing online games. They control me, and I've learned what really is important in life.

If you value any of the following:

Your family
Your $15 a month you will be spending, plus $40 for the original game and the inevitable $40 for the expansion
Your friends who don't play WoW
Your sanity
Your health

Then stay the hell away from World of Warcraft

That is, unless you don't have an addictive personality, and can handle just playing an hour or two here and there, then calling it a day. I know I couldn't, and most others can't either, but I'll let you make your own decision.

If you have (real life in person) friends to play with, it's a blast.

Yeah I play with my uni flatmates during term sometimes, is much more fun.

I also think it's funny how 'former addicts' always seem to think that 90% of other players are addicted.
Out of the all the players I've met irl there's only one I'd say might not be able to control how much he plays and he's the same with other games.

It's not that it sucks. It's that it's a mind-controlling drug.

Oh my God, this guy has a macro when he lands off of a ****ing flight like a griffin, he yells "hello everyone, I am here" and then he greets everyone warmly. USE DIVINE INTERVENTION GUYS!

 - I. Don't. Like. That. GAME.

I was able to control it for a while, but I either need to get it under control or quit WoW. You go so far; only to realize you've gone nowhere at all. I remembered that from the last time I played WoW, but for some reason I came back. WoW can be tons of fun, but the further you get into the game, the more you hate it, hate yourself but "need" to get to the next level/loot/gold/rep/dungeon/raid/etc.

I should probably start playing a vastly superior game that's exponentially more fun, skill based, and less time consuming like CS:S. Damn it, I ALWAYS had a good time in CS 1.5 and could easily play as much or as little as I wanted to and go do other stuff without interrupting or harming my game.

How disgusting is it that I've passed up things like swimming (where there will be hot chicks tanning & checking me out) for a damn game . . . . a number of times. Someone slap me.

EDIT: ****, my account renewed on the 18th (yesterday).

Just make sum1 set the parental time lock thing for you and make them not tell u the password. Tadaa 5 hours max a week. I practicly spend more time during the week droping deuces then playing WoW.

Yes, but you will lose your life.
lol. I exagurated a bit & no I won't lose my life. I still have a job, a GF, friends I go out with. It mostly invades more than I want it to. Anyway, if I have to set the parental lock, I should just quit anyway.

I need my entertainment time . . . so what should I fill it with?

P.S. (please refrain from making geeky childish sexual replies to the preceeding question)

Rather than start a whole new thread, I just decided to resurrect one saying that I've just started the 10-day trial (it's summer, I'm bored).

This game is so derivative, boring, and tasking, I can not imagine for the life of me why anyone think this is "fun". I'm starting out as a Dwarf warrior and have reached Level 6 (in one afternoon, almost reached Ironforge). What do people see in this game that merits the "millions of players around the world"? This makes me think that almost a third are hardcore clans, another third gold sellers, and another third to dumb to know what to do with $15 a month. Perhaps the middle-game or late-game is more interesting. But I don't see myself reaching much of it in 10-days.

My first ten days were magical.

'Course, I rolled a ****ing troll.

Don't you people realize what this game is? It's a another grinding game. Go, attack something a kabillion times, level up, go buy new stuff, get new skills, repeat, until you can't level up anymore. Then you go do dungeons over and over, and get absolutely no true reward except the death of well-written lore of WC3.

If you want to play an mmo that is fun, and different most times you play, get Planetside, or, if you want something that will suck up your time, Oblivion. << as good as any mmo, without the multiplayer part, and no monthly fees OR griefers! Everybody wins.
