Because it's not often the rest of the world gets to see pure US Regional Rivalries and the like rather than political rivalries. People can unite based on 'conservative - liberal' or parties.. but then further than that, transcending politics you'll have southerners unite against (not violently just rivalries/talk crap about each other) northerners, and westerners against easterners.

Easterners think they're all 'where it's at' and such, but in reality they don't know jack.
