They have said that they are aiming for a worldwide release. But don't worry, you can always get it on steam the very moment it is released if you won't be able to get it in your country for some reason.

Well.. the theoretical releasedate is the same for the whole world, but the reality is that it's a few days earlier in the US most of the time. But those have logistical reasons.

Valve said that hl2 will come out at the same time on steam when stores get it. So you can always buy it off steam :/ I know im just going to wait for it, I want my box!

I think it will be a worldwide release. I live in New Zealand and almost every major game comes out here the same dy as the US (actually, we get it 20 hours ealier than you guys )

Doesn't worry me either way though becuse I have already redeemed my ATI coupon through Steam.

Actually, with worldwide releases we (Dutch) often get stuff before the rest... Because it's shipped earlier and our shops don't give a shit about "waiting till the official release date" and just sell it when it comes in

I'm not saying u cant get them earlier... cause of ur timezone... I mean, if a shop gets hl2 2 days before the release they cant sell it on the same day they recieve it. :hmph:

I am dutch too, and its true what he says. I have seen it myself many times also. I dont why they do it, but its fine with me. I hope they do it with Half-life 2 also. Then we can come here at the forums saying we got half-life 2, and everybody will be pissed and jealous and we would get our ass banned from the forum :smoking:

So some dutch stores: they get the game ( even way before release date ) ---> selling it the same day ---> happy costumers

Haha! There's no law against it and he won't be arrested for it! Some shops do it in the UK too. It doesn't really make a difference when they sell the games as a sale is a sale.

Alot of shops in NZ sell worldwide released games before they are due. The shop my brother works at (Dick Smith) often don't even realise the game isn't supposed to be out, but it's on their shelves 2 or 3 days before release. Valve wouldn't bother trying to prosecute people over here.

Actually, the same thing happened here with HL1, it was like 1 week early in this toy store, all other stores didn't put it on their shelves yet.

So maybe I should go take a look in that toy store a couple of days prior to the actual release
