Worried!!

Hi... What im worried about? ill tell ya..

My computer for the moment is a :

AMD Athlon 1700Xp
512Mb Sdram
Geforce 2 MX 400
60Gb Seagate

What im worried about is that i wont be able to play HL2 !! (maybe in 640x480 with 2-5 FPS but who would enjoy that?)
I have ordered a Radeon 9800 PRO that i should get very soon.. so when i have it my comp spec would be :

AMD Athlon 1700XP
512MB Sdram
Powercolor Radeon 9800 PRO
60Gb seagate

ANyone that know if i will be able to play HL2 with the spec above in a pretty good resolution and some cool Direct X 9.0 effects without getting Hacked up?

yes!! even with the geforce of course!! it will run smooth on 1024 but not with all effects on i think.

everyone here acts like hl2 will only run on the newest ati cards...stupid...hl2 was developed to work on all those older cards. i have a geforce 4 ti4200 8x agp or something and not planning to upgrade. i can play all dx9 games great on 1024 high detail and hl2 will not be the exception.

1-You will be fine.
2-Your MX would not run the game well at all, of course...
3-A ti4200 WILL NOT run with DX9 features enabled. Yes, there are games that require DX9 that it will run, but this is for sound...There are no currently released games that I know of that use DX9 spec graphics. And installing DX9 doesn't do anything...A graphics card being DX9 compatible has to do with what the card ITSELF is able to do, and what features it has, not what you have installed on the computer.

And, it's not a waste, I got one, and I like the fact that my computer is so fast without any overclocking...
