1. The big thing at the end of Opposing Force. You know after Nihilanth in Half-life 1 I thought Gearbox might have been able to conjure something a little more intense and less shit. I was wrong. They made something worse. Devoid of any tension; boring and absolutely stupid this cackfest comes in at number 1 for me. Cool build up though.

2. Character at the end of Pariah. Dunno who she was because she's never mentioned in the game. Apparently important enough to be the big bad last boss though. Again, another cackfest. I spent about half an hour wondering if I was inflicting damage; and it makes the fairly colossal mistake of including additional enemies (always a bad move for a boss fight imo). There's no real strategy here and it boils down to trial and error. A woefully pathetic end to an arguably pathetic game.

3. Nihilanth from Half-life 1. Eeek! Gonarch wasn't too hot either but wow did this thing bring the pace to a screeching halt. It's such a shame because he actually looked awesome and quite like Opposing Force had a nifty build up. The problem is simple: he's a bore. Shoot the crystals! Now shoot...him! Then his head! Or rather, the thing inside his head. It could have been so climatic and exciting but instead it's dull and really cracks the momentum of the game hard across the face.

Runners up:

Sniper Wolf 1 and 2. Kojima obviously wasn't content with us enduring 1 of these yawn inducing scenarios. So he included another. Awesome. Only not. Made good on the idea in MGS3 though.

Doom 3 cast. Proof that id is still living in an age long past.

I'm sure there's worse out there but these are what's fresh in my mind.

1. The Theta/Super Theta in Area - 51 was just pathetic. Shoot, dodge, infect, repeat.

2. The Corpser in Gears of War. Throughout the game you are followed by this huge, badass looking spider creature. The actual fight is just so simple and effortless. Shoot belly, shoot mouth, move forward, repeat, shoot platform lock thingies. Yay fried spider.

The boss at the end of Gears of War. How disappointing.

I have to agree, the boss at the end of Half-Life was awful.

Cyberdemon from Doom 3 was awesome. The tension before the battle was freakish.

I know I've said it before but Jinpachi, from Tekken 5, gets my vote.
*Cancel's all your actions*
*Powers up a huge fireball*
*SHOOP DA WHOOP! More than half of your health meter is gone*

It all happens in less than 5 seconds.

**** you Namco and good day!

Perfect Dark Zero.

Actually, that boss was kind of cool. The setup (i.e. the ENTIRE GAME) was completely shit though.

Oh my God that boss ****ing sucked. It was nearly impossible to lay a single hit on him. He throws all of these cheap ass moves at you that damage anywhere from a quarter to half of your health.

I would like to add Tartarus from Halo 2. He died like a bitch.

I really didn't like RAAM in Gears of War. He was just like "BLAAARGH" and if you didn't unload everything into him just right in the beginning, you're essentially f*cked.

Not to mention it takes a million ****ing headshots from the Longshot to kill him.

Tartersauce from Halo 2. Halo 1 had an awsome ending, so it's only natural there would be an awsome ending for 2. Instead, you waited for a guy to shoot the boss three times, then you have two seconds to inflict damage on him. While he attacks with a giant hammer. Boring and repetitive, only fun if you're able to bring the flying vehicle in. The other two boss fights in Halo 2 were pretty bad too, except the bosses weren't giant annoying apes.

regular end boss in PoP2...just too damn psycho in the ending fase.

the twin boss(es) in PoP2T having to attack the brother to get the axe-guy's axe stuck in the ground sucks because he performs the exact same attack when he attacks you normally except his axe doesn't get stuck, not to mention that the brother you attack blocks all your blows so you're lead to belive it's not the right way to do it.

the last boss fight in Perfect Dark was a beeotch.

The boss fight in Prey was fun, but left me unfulfilled.
Painkiller, Battle out of Hell. Seriously, did any of you figure out how to kill the boss without looking it up on the Internet first? How exactly were we supposed to figure that out?

I'm throwing in another vote for Tatarsauce in Halo2, because HE'S ****ING INVINCIBLE UNLESS YOU HAVE THE BEAM RIFLE or Johnson shoots him twice. I think in Legendary you have to shoot him THREE times with the beam rifle before his shield even goes down, and he still has a SHITLOAD of health. And sometimes Johnson doesn't hit him, and he only ever shoots TWICE IN A ROW. Add this to Halo 2's unweildy control scheme in terms of fluid movement and the fact that even if you cleverly manage to shove him off the edge HE RESPAWNS.

WTF BUNGIE.

The boss at the end of Tribes: Vengeance was a letdown, as well. I think i killed him superfast.

The Ubersoldats from Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I loved the simplicity of the game upto the point where I had to fight those mechanical things. But I kept on going. Then I beat the big daddy, the Ubersoldat. Only, just a few levels later, I have to fight two of them simultaeneously. Fvck it. The game isn't worth my time. I stopped playing yesterday...

Pariah = Waste of time
Gears of War = Boses were to easy even on hardcore. Lame aswell.
DOOM 3 = WTF, the best and most badass boss, the cyberdemon. How do you **** it up? I beat him on my 1st try in like 3 mins....

Gotta agree on the Doom3 boss, beat him first time as well, was expecting a far harder challenge.

Ganondorf (all phases) was a big letdown in Twilight Princess. Energy balls, wrestling, arrows, fishing rod - dead. :| (Awesome game tho).

Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 was rubbish. Even if you used the heightened senses he'd still thump you around. Not to mention all of those fluctuating power "thingys".

That General bloke from True Crime L.A. An absolute bitch to hit, let alone kill. And he could kung-fu your ass no problem.

I never figured out how to destroy the boss at the end of Opposing Forces. I guess that makes it pretty bad.

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy

Can be neatly summed up as "WTF!?"

Then again, the whole back of end of that game was quite possibly the biggest drop off I've experienced that wasn't a rollercoaster.

Yeah the boss at the end of Opposing force sucks :| All this tension before hand "ALL YOUR BUDS WENT DOWN, BUT I GUESS THERE DEAD :D" and you go down and lazer his eyes up some and shoot his core or stomach or whatever it was >_>

I don't know if this exactly counts as a boss, but has anyone ever gotten to the Rat Race stage for Battetoads for the NES? Yeah, gtfo. The first 2 parts are doable, but once you hit the third part he starts going at the speed of light.

I agree about Prey....most boring boss battle I've played in a long time...

Terrorist leader in church from Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes. Even 20 headshots from sniper rifle can't kill him.

The boss at the end of main quest of ES4: Oblivion

All you had to do was get you and Martin into the temple

Dead Rising, every boss fight is a yawnfest

Elite force 2, boring looooooooong fight

Prince of Persia two thrones. Again every boss just has way too much health, your dual weapon breaks way too quickly and you're forced to slug it out. Shame cause the rest of the game is awesome.

Is it bad that I don't remember the boss from Doom 3 at all?

I actually enjoyed playing through that game though, unlike many here, but I just don't remember there being a boss at all...

Help me! :(

This doesn't really count as a boss fight, but still;

Max Payne - getting killed again and again in the bar of that hotel... I was killed more than fifty times in there, seriously.

There was 4...

My memory is terrible obviously.

Off to wikipedia

edit: god, I don't remember fighting that thing at all...

I agree. EVERY SINGLE BOSS in the game up to that point was amazing. Then he was a bit of a let down. Just wasn't big enough, evil enough or original enough. Admittedly the cool teleporting thing was quite cool and tense but ultimately.. meh. Still, the art direction in that huge cathedral thing at the end was just...

Oooh yeah. Blizzeta was pretty crap. Clever but rather boring. And the graphic design on the opening bit was awesome. When it was the giant ball that you chip away at with your ball and chain. :E

I did like Armogohma though. It was great fun if a little easy. Didn't get hurt once if I remember correctly. I loved squashing it with the giant statues though. That was so satisfying.

2. The Corpser in Gears of War. Throughout the game you are followed by this huge, badass looking spider creature. The actual fight is just so simple and effortless. Shoot belly, shoot mouth, move forward, repeat, shoot platform lock thingies. Yay fried spider.
You can shoot the lock thingies? I just positioned myself on the platforms one at a time, and jumped backwards just when the spider smashed his claws down into the platform. But even with my method, it's a real easy boss.

Raam sucked though... sigh...

Prey, the whole game, sucked balls, including it's bosses.

Hard or easy, General RAAM at the end of GoW just failed. The entire game was kickass with it's combat, then you get to the end and it's just this big fat bloke at the end of a train with a machine gun. Crap.

And the Corpser... man, they took the generic ''here's a big, circular room, now lets put the boss at the center of it. Add some features that assist you on pure coincidence, too!'' and then downgraded it even more when this huge ****-off Starship Troopers muthabeast creature is about as powerfull as a Wretch. Hell, when I played it on Insane it was the Wretches that killed me, not that thing. :|

the big "spider"(don`t remember it`s name) in gears of war. lol.

Doom 3's Cyberdemon had a good design but I think the original is more terrifying when you had a good look at it. The mechanical sound it makes when walking is just...
