Im going to have to say Rap.

Person talking fast into a Microphone, over some cheap synthesized sounds made on a computer.

Rap and techno make me physically angry... like... i just... wanna cut off my face or something when I listen to them, but I can only vote for 1 so rap it is

All the options in this poll are only covering a very limited spectrum of music from a very limited time period. I'm going to say all of the above! :cheese: There is at least some good music in most of these genres, but on the whole it's just rehashing the same ideas, chord patterns, rhythms and sounds over and over and over and over and over again. Very few people are being original nowadays.

I listen to music from all different time periods, and not a lot of modern music is interesting or original enough to interest me much. I like Radiohead for their originality.

The thing is:

Rythem and Blues once stood for Eric Clapton and Cream, pure genius, and now it's associated with Garage.... it makes me sick.

I voted for what R&B has become

Trance.

Have you ever noticed that the same woman always sings on Trance songs? Well, it sonds like the same woman.

lol... thats Dance-Pop tuneage!!... yeah, I know what you mean, but Dnace-pop isn't on there :flame:

And the same lyrics! About "Ibiza" and "sunrise" and "take me to the sky" and stuff. Though I don't hate Trance nowhere near as much I hate country and rap.

Don't get me wrong, I like GOOD rap. Yes, there is such a thing, but it's really really rare. All the bullshit rap (well, with a few exceptions, bullshit music) that gets played on MTV and stuff makes me want to puke.

I hate country music just because.

Whats wrong with Country music?

"oh lemme tell ya bout 2 guys i know
ol' crew cut chuck an afro joe
well crew cut sang and joe played sax
collectin their money in a hat
well the rent was due and the food was gone
ol' crew cut knew it was time to move on"

:)

(methinks some of the more musically minded forumites will get that one :) )

EDIT: Siirolon (sp?) I'm sure you would have got this one by now :P

I'm gonna have to go with country. Techno come closely behind, but to be fair I do hear some of it that's pretty alrite. Honestly tho when I hear country in all honesty I feel sad from the bottom most part of my soul, it's just so bad :'(

Also you forgot Hip Hop, there's a difference, if only slight.

Same here. I HATE country, absolutely hate it. It annoys me so much more then the other choices.

Nu Metal. that craptastical bublegum pop known as licoln park, POD, disturbed etc.. It's a music genre that took everything great about the underground death/black metal scene. And made it sanitized and watered down to fit todays garbage swilling MTV youth. A music style that sees nothing but $ signs. Trite narcisistic lyrics about self longing/pity that would make the most EMO kid laugh his ass off at the petty garbage spilling forth. A horrible, boring, rapckaging of sounds that were revelutionary in '96 but have been so overplayed in mainstream that the bands lose any identifiable difference in sound.

Boring,Boring,Boring

Rythem and Blues, no reason, just becasue thats the one I least like.

But my fav has got to be J-Rock.

why rap? theres a lot of nice rap...just dont listen to xzibit, dre, eminem and so on, and do some research..anyway... i voted rnb :)

2 people on metal?!?!? nooo metal owns :)

gangsta rap has got to go!
crabcakes check out Rancid there punk and they always seem to keep there music fresh. www.rancidrancid.com you can download songs from all there cds on there website

Punk music is gay. if i wanted to look and act queer maybe i'd listen to it otherwise no.

then country music is crap

pop music is gay

rock is gay, bring back 90's rock, new rock sucks hard balls.

techno is gay aswell

metal is alright

rap & RnB = best

Wow submerge, talk about variety in taste...

Anyway, i don't think any genre is worst, i think its down to the artist.

By the way, IL listen to anything that i like the sound of. So that could encompass Rap...pop...Country. What ever.

I hate punk and country, but I LOVE Trance and Eurodance. Don't insult them ;(

I think having a large metal object falling on you would be worse than country....Could just be me though.

Rap, punk, metal are all crap- I barely consider them categories. Just minor variants of annoying and questionably talented people who shouldn't be allowed near microphones or musical instruments. You have to be high on drugs, booze or sugar to listen to most of that crap. Techno is mostly vapid and forgetable.

I'm not sure what people think R&B is today. I NEVER associated Eric Clapton and Cream as R&B artists. R&B is not "Blues", never really was in my lifetime. R&B from the 80's yes. But what were R&B artists became Hip-Hop...which I find less likable.

Country is a fave, but haven't found much in the last year to thrill me.

I find most people like certain producers and writers more consistently than an artist. Lots of artist don't write or produce their own music. So their success/hits are more attributed to the hit-writer on a song or the producer (often guest producer). They'll bring in someone talented to produce and mix one song-the single they release. I've followed certain writers and producers from artist to artist. I'll buy an album because it has my favorite producer or because there are songs by a favorite writer-even though I don't liek or know the artist.

A lot of artist's limited commercial success is due to limited collaboration with a talented set of writer/producers and not them themselves.

You really should go out more often.
how can you be that narrow minded?

What an opinionated bunch of people we have here!

Music is one of those things, which you cant say is bad simply because of the style. Yes, people can sing out of tun etc. But really, its all a matter of opinion whether Rap is crap, or Punk sucks.

How so?

Rap is the worst , read what i said in first post. Most punk is crap, bunch of no talent kids, who cant play instruments or sing worth shit. Metal can be good and bad. NuMetal is shit (lets play really loud angry music and scream into the microphone), but older metal like Iron Maiden is good. I dont like Pop but at least they actually sing in it. Techno/Dance = all made on computer = garbage.

New country sucks........i do like some older stuff like jhonny cash though.

Rap, definatelly. I don't even consider that music. Pop sucks too.

Some rock and metal is all right.

Trance is the best :)

yes and no, while i agree totally that much about music is entirely subjective and therfore open to interpretation i find that there are people who can say what is good music and what is bad music. perfect example of this are reviewers at Allmusic.com these people sole obsession in life is all forms of music and are very capable of distinguishing pretentious crap from utter brilliance. Though most people here posting their opinion (myself included) consider themselves music afficianados whom have impecable taste in music.
