Would a heatsink/fan be enough to cool...

uhm, I'm not sure I understand the question but.. Why wouldn't it be? Besides, it depends on what heatsink your talking about, but most heatsinks sold today can cool up to at least 2400+

Just a heatsink would have problems I think. Unless its a darn big one :)
But I dont really get the question either...

no, the retail version of the 2400+, it comes w/ a heatsink/fan combo, will that be enuf to cool the processor

yes, it will. you should only be worried if you're running a generally hot processor (p4 3.0ghz) with alot of other hot equipment (radeon 9800pro, etc). you should be fine.

I guess you dont understand, hunter. An HSF is a heatsink and fan. It cools the CPU, lol. The retail HSF that comes witht he 2400+ will be PLENTY good enough, unless you intend on OCing.

Actually I think the xp 2400+ might even get warmer then P4 3GHz.. AMD Athlon processors run much hotter then Intel Pentium in genarall. I know how warm my 2000+ gets.. And from what I've heard about OCing capabilities on the higher range p4 processers with air cooling, I highly doubt that p4 3GHz gets much warmer then 2400+, if warmer at all.

that's odd. i had heard that p4's ran hotter. guess i was misinformed.

AMDs are always warm. You look at a duron CPU and they usually get really hot.
