I love this game and I think it would be so frikkin awesome to make a Morrowind HL2 mod. I don't care if it's completely unoriginal, just a fiathful translation would be fine...

Now that I think of it, Deus Ex: Source would be cool too...

Making something like Morrowind would be a massive project... Keep in mind you dont just make the levels and models, you need to make every single system for it. And for Morrowind that's ALOT to cover... I doubt anyone will bother recreating it, now that TES4 is probably coming, heh.

Come to think of it, why would anyone want to create Morrowind: Source? The original is still great fun to play, and mod. Beautiful game, none the less.

I'm with dawdler on this. Sourceworld could have easily become a MMORPG but in the style of Morrowind, with all the stats and leveled creatures and everything else in it. But the undertaking would be huge, even we wont attempt something like that.

Besides that, Morrowind with all the mods added to it would be impossible to improve on in the Source engine. And unless you made all your cells (source's bsp files in the case of a source version) available in uncompiled format so people could make their own mods. It would just be a bad attempt. Few would even bother with it either way. Source simply couldn't do a very good version of Morrowind, its not built for something like that.

It would also be copyright infringment, unless you got permission...

It'll never happen anyway. a morrowind mod is about as likely as a complete full size middle earth mod ;)

Very modest, aren't we, Dark Elf? :p

Anyway, I don't think you could make the levels expansive enough for morrowind. Think about it, you'd have to load a massive level before you could continue (Morrowinds engine copes with this somehow)... I think leaving it to the experts would be a better idea.

why not work on some new idea rather than recreating one thats already been done?
