would you play a pokemon mmo?

Maybe you should learn C++ with me and find out why I didn't talk about it.

(hint: because it's a viable game on its own and also AWESOME)

Just do it in flash/html5.

my brostoevsky Hemingway and I recognize that R/S is pure gold, if only for the ****ing amazing pinball game that came as a result
You and Hemingway are in the wrong, Ruby and Saphire just don't feel right. They're the only generation I haven't completed, because most all of the Pokemon are boring and there are stupid changes which just shouldn't even be considered when making a pokemon game. No attack animations? Really?
Before you get all heart-broken, think about it. An MMO with thousands of people running around opens the gates to moronic behaviour enough without being built on a licence focused on children. The target audience is not us, no matter how much we may enjoy the franchise. I would love a Pokémon console RPG, and I'd love there to be an online element, but without that element being optional I'd be constantly exposed to the target audience, who would ruin the game. I'd want a feature similar to the likes of Demon's Souls, Monster Hunter or even the existing Pokémon on DS, but for the love of God, nothing like WoW.

While I'm admittedly not very 'in the know' about MMOs, I think citing 'the community will be dumb kids' is a pretty silly objection. Kids will come, so will adults, so will child molesters, so will Mr. ****ing T. If it's well marketed and well made, a lot of people, not just little kids would play it. And it's not like you're forced to deal with voice cracking foul mothed adolescents and mouth breathing serial killers all the time; you get to choose who you play with and don't play with, and how you play with them. And even if I'm wrong, everyone on HL2.net would be in a clan, and frankly, that's enough awesome right there.

There were attack animations in RSE, what're you talking about?

I found none in the one I played. I looked through the options to be sure (though why it would be turned off by default is beyond me). Not that having that would save it. Shitty goddamn world too, I actually got genuinely lost and then stuck.

That's what I was saying, an online system where you get to choose who you play with, like in Monster Hunter. In WoW-type games, everyone is all around you all the time, and while there is choice in who you quest with, there's a vast degree of assholery you have to deal with by not being able to choose who is in your game world. When people say Pokémon MMO, that's what comes to mind. It all comes down to what model of MMO it would be made with.

Don't worry, I was going to reply to you but instead turned my post into 90% of a matchmaking system that takes care of the player and douchebag density.

Haha. I prefer to banish them to a very special hell. A kind of matchmaking purgatory.

I know a couple who play WoW who must either:
a) Have learned to deal with it/gotten used to it
b) Don't have a problem with it

Anyway, I suppose we're doing a whole tomato tumato thing here, so um... I'm done.

I don't know, I've run around a bit on their accounts, and other than seeing quite a few people running around, I didn't interact with anybody.
