Would you still do misdemeanors and light crimes if you were punished harsher?

I have been wondering about this. For example, lets say that if you threw trash on the ground, you could get incarcerated for 10 years.

Or if you did drugs, 20+ years.

Jaywalking as 5 years.


Of course, there is no moral qualms against jaywalking except that its breaking the law. But if you were able to be punished with 15+ years in prison, would you still do it?

May sound ridiculous, but still.

not everything is so freakin black and white ..numbers you have a lot of growing up to do ..you ideas of what a state controlled society should be like is cartoonish and overly simplified

No, if the punishments were that large I would stay low and fly straight...For some cultures it would be easier to adapt...For example, I heard a story where a German woman lectured a policeman in Ireland for Jaywalking...

Dude relax he's asking as a social question he's obviously not proposing it. Numbers may be a strong supporter of his state but he's not completely bad.

I think it's an interesting question. I partake in most if not all of those crimes too.

Depends on the publicity of the crime. For instance Jay walking is out. You get caught for that like that. Walking on the grass? Everyone can see you. No.

Crimes that are private or secret, that you already try to conceal. Probably keep on with some. But with a lot more secrecy.

And that was a thread on Israel attacking other countries. I meant that as a joke, as you can see on that post "j/k". Jokingly, I implied that if Hitler had suceeded, there would be no state of Israel, and therefore no war. Of course, this does not mean that I support the mass-murdering of the jewish people, since that is way more horrible than 200+ civilians getting killed.
