Wow bad timing

I had a cold or something one time and called in sick, and was required to furnish a doctors note. ****ing bastards. Waste of money.

Still, he sounded like he was worried about losing his job.

I don't think they really care now that I really think about it.

I mean I do a lot of stuff that isn't asked of me and never do something half assed every since I started there and they seem to be really appreciative.

I get emails that are directed to the entire team about random work related stuff so I guess they were just really busy to send me a personal response(I barely talk or see my manager/team lead because they're constantly in meetings and doing other more important things than dealing with a co op).

Feeling a lot better now, should be able to return tomorrow.

Good luck on your future, And may you stay employed for many years to come.

Yeah, you should be fine job-wise. Now it's time to plot revenge against that jerk that sent the email before you, and probably got you sick to begin with...

Where were you working at the time?

Going in to work is the best option as it shows you want to be in, but at the same time, your boss will notice that you look like ***t and send you home. And if he doesnt, go straight to him/her and tell them.

Phone call first thing in the morning is the next option.

Email is..I dont think I'd ever send an email. If I saw (dont know how you did come to think of it) someone had sent an email in as well saying that they were sick, I'd be straight on the phone.

Either way I wouldnt worry about it. People get sick all the time, the fact that you got sick on the same day is irrelevant. If anyone suspects anything, thats up to them. What they think isnt your problem, youre genuinely sick.

The only time a boss, who has the control, would suspect anything, is if you started doing it frequently. Simple. If youre off for just a day, he'll forget about it as soon as you come back in.

Because we deal with blackberries, we're on them 24/7. The ideal way to reach someone is through email which is synced on your blackberry with your desktop so you can have access wherever you go.

Emailing is basically the #1 way to get a hold of someone at RIM and calling is rarely used.

I don't think you quite understand: showing up for work despite being really sick shows you are dedicated and puts you above the rest who email their sick leave.

You basically can not lose if you show up and say you'll work if they want you to.

This applies to every job ever. Yours is no exception.

I guess so...woke up today..don't have a headache or fever but i get a little dizzy sometimes...a general feeling of i'm not 100% yet. Granted I'm a lot better than yesterday I'm going to go into work and just tell them the honest truth if they ask how I'm feeling.

All the best to that mate. It'll be fine, trust us.

Actually coming in to work when you're obviously sick is a bad idea, as what will eventually happen is you'll get your co-workers/boss sick and spread your disease around, thus hampering the productivity of your entire office potentially.

Whether you use email/phone to notify your boss that your sick, it really depends on the job. At my job we use email for pretty much everything, so all notifications are done through email. I've had jobs where they wanted you to call before the workday started...so like I said, its really up to your work.

There's a reason they tell you to stay home if you're sick though. They don't want you spreading it around. So don't, everyone hates the guy that got them sick.

I sent an email asking for a couple of hours of sick time to see the doctor once, because I had a stupid earache that lasted a few days. Nobody cared that I took the time off.

So if you're infectious sick, I completely agree with Rico. You don't need to go to work and be like "I hope someone notices that I look like crap today and sends me home." It's not like you're in school or something. Any reasonable person should be fine with you emailing in.

My team lead walked passed me and was like "Hey, how are you feeling man?". I replied "Really good, a lot better than yesterday". He then says "You're not contagious still are you? haha" then walked away. I could tell it was a nervous laughter because he walked away as he said that I guess he was just taking precautions.

The other guy who sent the email before me sent another this morning saying he was still sick. I guess my team lead thinks that It's a good idea to stay away from me for at least a day after I got over my sickness to be on the safe side as I didn't see him the rest of the day.

well no harm done then, I guess.
