Well I've been playing the game for hours.

The game isn't really hooking me.

I prefered everquest for PS2

The graphics are not very good

the sound effects, while more realistic than everquest for PS2 don't really sound cool - everyquest was small low quallity samples but they really sounded right satisfying

the animation isn't very good

the weapon animation and moves is dull and the special attacks are wierd and choppy.

I hope I find a character I like soon, I've got a level 6 hunter and a level 4 shaman.

I hate to think how much I spent on this game that cannot be played offline and is 15$ a month

I think I want to try a character with a wooden weapon - it sounds cool when they hit the mobs

I think I was expecting way too much from this game

Maybe I should have got EQII or guild wars

Have you got a spare friends key ?! :O:O...ill be your friend :D

Ive played in the WoW beta and loved it, need one more go to decide if its worth it :p

Try to at least get your hunter to level 10. A hunter is really quite boring up until then because that is when you get to have a pet and a hunter really starts to shine.

Also if you are playing a Night-Elf hunter try to leave Kalimdor and go to Stormwind soon after hitting level 10. I personally found doing quests in Stormwind and Ironforge much more interesting than the ones in and around Teldrassil.

Are you playing on your own?

What settings are you using?

With everything maxed out, at a decent resolution, WoW looks excellent (breathtaking sometimes). It's also a game that's infinitely better when played with friends (get on comms, and go adventuring) Soloing gets boring fast

The longer you play, customise your charatcer, develop skills, and see the world, the more enjoyable WoW becomes. Judging it after a day or two's play is very premature - you haven't even begun to find the tip of the iceberg ;)

EQ2 might be your bag, I personally enjoy both. Though I dont subscribe to EQ only WoW atm. But yes WoW is slightly overated, it doesent take many chances at all and I cant seem to get past the 20's without getting really bored with long trekking and endless hunting on mindless deliver my paper to this house quests.

It's pretty good actually.

Try a human paladin, and level them until at least lvl10 before creating more characters.

Stop putting guild wars in the same category as EQ and WoW. Personally I didn't like EQII at all. Try the free trial and see what you think.

WoW takes what's already in current MMORPGs and does them twice as well.

Yeah, you will be disappointed with EQ2. Personally before release, i had no intrest in WoW what so ever, but i was dieing to try EQ2. I thought that EQ2 would own WoW on all levels. Then i was in the beta for EQ2. I thought it wasn't fun. I heard that WoW was really good so i bought it, best buy i've made in ages.

Since i discovered that i couldent for some pervers reason buy WoW (they need more servers up be4 new releases, 1. time in my life i´ve heard anything this moronic, but hey blizzard is known 4 their speed *sarcasme intended*). I downloaded EQ2 (the trial), i must admit i like it, very good looking, like the tradeskills, not as static as EQ1, looks pretty good 2 me.

From what I hear, you're just judging WoW buy it's graphics. If you play a game for graphics, fluidity and animation alone, you probally won't like any game before HL2. Like Warbie said, this game isn't about graphics or how good the quests are. It's simply about the atmosphere that you play with. A quest that simply requires you to enter a dungeon and slay an ogre can be made as fun as possible if you're questing with really good mates, while listening to loud music and laughing your arse off at the jokes being flung over guild chat.

With MMOs, you're going to get VERY bored VERY quickly when doing things on your own. The most fun comes out of partying up with others, joining guilds, and having a damn good time doing stuff together. Especially in dungeons and instances; spending upwards to 3 hours on a quest with your mates is an unbeatable experience. Hell, even with complete strangers it's great fun. :)

And WoW, not good looking? :O You must be running on some low settings, WoW looks incredible.

amen to that. I did loads of the gameplay stuff during the beta, i didn't have to get retail but i will because i made some really good friends over that period and had a lot of fun. The fact that i like the atmosphere as well helps :p

I wish i was in the beta, i hear warriors used to be useable :(

Level 60 Warriors annihilated areas where they would normally need a full group. :(

Now level 60 warrior need groups for that other classes would normally solo :(

I just finished a good 3 hour WoW session with 4 mates - excellent fun, with plenty of aimless chat and laughing over comms. Our posse of dwarfs is getting quite tough :)

Playing solo simply can't compare - it's like choosing a wank over a good shag.

Haha, moronic? If you had the game now you would know how bad and over crowded the servers are.

Well I've been playing the game for hours.

....you have to play for more than a few hours to appreciate it. Hell, most people love WoW from the start.

Either way, your wrong. WoW is the best of its kind out there.

With regards to the graphics and animations...MMORPGS do not have the best because of the scale of them, and WoW's graphics are still dam good.

Get to level 30+ and you'll enjoy it, you may have to find a class that you enjoy playing. I love em all :)

Im not saying its not a deep, quality game- im saying I think I may have enjoyed EQ II more becuase that is the game I spent almost a year playing non-stop almost didnt stop to pee or order pizza - it hooked me so much i kind of miss it

I made a human warrior - i got to level 7.. i liked using him the most so far but now its just ok - kinda bored.

I have been playing it ever since I woke up today so Its obviously a fun game I was just expecting to never want to leave my room again

/pizza

Its just a few things are bugging me

why is it when Im walking forward its smooth as ice (about 60 fps), but whenever i turn, its really choppy.. 15 fps?
-is it my computer? i think its the way they programed it to keep the game from crawling when there is alot of people -

Is there a way to change this?

Also the character animations - is there a way to increase them?
- whenver I do my moves it's like 5 frames of animation . i know its not my computers fault

Also I have tried grouping but when i grouped once it was kind of cool, but with my warrior no one ever invited me to group I kept asking everyone my level - but i finished my quest by running past all the corpses people were leaving to get to my goal.

Does anyone use a controll pad to play this game? -i was thinking maybe if I had anologue controll over my movement, It wouldn't be choppy when i turn

The animation certainly isn't like that for me.

Everything looks fluid, and the graphics are fantastic.

Yes, its your computer. You need more ram by the sounds of it
Its probably my video card and processor becuase i have 1024 MB and a 256 MB video card

You need to at least least get to level 20 and do either the Wailing Caverns if you're Horde or the Deadmines if you're Alliance. That'll actually give you a taste of the grouping yet to come... ans while it's best to either join a guild and group with them or make some friends, they can still be done with random people...

I thought WOW sucked - but heaps of people liked it. Horses for courses I guess.

WoW is the first game that has hooked me since Ultima Online which = wow. :)

It's too bad that robes (one of my favorite things about RPG's)..

its too bad that they take the chest slot - so you can either wear chest armor or a robe -and for warriors and such there really is no option.

I guess if you could wear a robe over top of your full set of armor then everyone in the game would be wearing a robe ........

WoW has some of the more "expressive" character animations I've seen in a game. They are exagerrated, but I've only seen HL2 and Doom 3 (which uses a lot of character animation if you look closely) rival the character animation in WoW.

I think the graphics in WoW are amazing. They have a unique style all there own. They don't look bland like a Doom 3 or Everquest 2 style graphics. I'm surprised you don't atleast appreciate the colors involved in WoW.

Most importantly, get your character above lvl 10. You can't even comment on a class until level 10. Most classes don't even get their signature abilites until level ten. In addition, at lvl 10 you get your talent points to spend which is a nice way to customize your character.

If you still don't like WoW, I suggest you go back to EQ 1. The people who prefer EQ2 to WoW are exceedingly rare. Honestly it sounds like you want WoW to be Everquest for you. WoW isn't Everquest, it is something so much more "refreshingly" fun.

PS - it sounds like you are having video problems with WoW as well. You might want to play with your settings. WoW is silky smooth most of the time (unless I'm doing a 40 man raid on the crossroads :p).

yea the characters look great. a few of the women are really nice looking.

I made a warlock and invited another level 1 warlock female human to my group and she proceeded to start dancing for me..
then i asked her how, she told me.. so i was dancing with her- it was awesome dance moves-alot of variety.

then she started to take off her clothes while she was dancing

at first I was like - wow, nice chest.

then she went all out- stripping all the way down to her underwear while dancing! It was like she was strip teasing me!!! man they really put all the polygons in the right place!

I said "wow"

I said"puts money there"

and her character actually started laughing

it was a blast

let me tell you it reminds me of KOTR were once the princess was in my team she was always in her underwear- she didn't wear armor anyway - just a robe that offered no protection.

anyway - beatiful character models! :naughty:

Yeah its smooth for me too, unless I'm suffering under a 40 main raid at the XR that is! You damn Alliance cant give me a moment of peace.

Well....you know what they say, everyone to his own.

WoW for me really is WoooooooW because its everything a game should be and EQ2 just...isn't. Plus i don't have time to spend so much time getting a half high level in EQ2, i can barely play WoW anymore. My hunter is level 26. The graphics for me are something different, i didn't expect HL2 realism or Doom3 CGI style graphics, i expected a cartoon type of graphics and they really work for the game, unlike EQ2's unpolished graphics that you require a super computer just to turn up, and they still don't looke very good.

WoW for me is smooth as butter unless i'm with a massive group of people or flying into a a main city on a bird (bat ...etc..) and i run it at 1280x1024 max settings 6xaa/16xaf with my X800 pro.

I'd suggest getting to a bit higher level before doing anything. I enjoyed the game from the very start, but I didn't really start having a blast until around 30 to 40 when I could start to join raids and get in on all the PVP action.

Edit: Hi Blah :)

Meh, I skipped over WoW, nothing interesting for me in it to be honest. Guild Wars is more up my alley,

these type of games interest me,a whole big world etc to explore etc, they look like they have insane longevity but the whole ogre, trolls etc isnt really my thing ;(

Still haven't installed this yet - it's just sitting there collecting dust. I'll install it during "Study" leave, I'll have plenty of time to waste then! :D
