So I went to mah local Gamestop and Reserved a copy of Teh collectors edition of World Of Warcraft. I'm Crazy, I know.
Anyone else gonna Reserve?

No, I probably won't get it since I've played the beta. Unless they make some changes that is.

gee, its a beta... no i dont they would do anything after they run a beta, the beta is just a demo for people to play it for free! not to solve bugs or anything

I played the stress test and loved it. But everyone likes different stuff.

I already pre-ordered the CE.

I'm sharing a closed beta account with some friends.. can't wait until open beta :)

I played the beta and loved it, but I still think I will like EQ2 more.

Shuzer can i get into the open beta? or did you have to sign up already?

Anyway i probally wont get WoW, i reserved EQ2 instead :) i want to try out WoW tho.

PS- *offtopic* which city you starting off in when you get EQ2 foxtrot?

Im getting it for sure I loved the stress test and it was just a test also thought the gameplay was excelent.

Oh I wasn't aware the gameplay wasn't going to be the same when it comes out. They'll fix a few bugs, so what. I don't like the gameplay and like I said if they change a few things then I'll change my mind.

A beta is a stage in development. So in general games always get changed after their BETA. Just look at the CS:S BETA, it changes. Wheather the WoW stress test was a beta or not, i dont know.

If it is i bet it will changes.....well certain parts.

No need to preorder, but you can bet your asses I'll be getting it the day it comes out. :)

Open beta is just that.. open. It'll be open to anyone, there will be no registration or signups. This is their final testing stage, for a mass audience before release.

I never really liked MMORPGS, they just seemed to eat up so much time :O

And they do just that, but generally people who dislike "morepigs" games change their minds after they try one ;)

I'm really interested in WoW myself, all my old guild buddies from SWG are probably going to make the switch to WoW and I just might join them, but I'm not going to buy the CE rather spend the extra credits to buy HL2 CE/Gold :)

Im enjoying the *cough*EQ2 beta*cough* more than the WoW one, so i think i'll be getting that.

I plan on playing WoW till Twilight War comes out. Maybe a bit of EQ2 in between because it looks good and its pretty damn popular but apart from them 2 games it looks like i'll just be sticking to my usual 1 MMORPG and my single player games e.g stalker hl2 etc...back to my MMORPG :)

I know I'm being an arse about it, but why not simply write 'the'?

Oh hot damn i didnt realize that lol. Do you know when they will start it?

I just don't like MMORPGs in general. They're all missing something that I can't quite put my finger on but I feel their gameplay is lacking. It leaves you with questions like, Who am I? Where am I going? How am I different from any other player? There's an element I haven't seen in any MMORPGs yet that kinda detracts from the game. Don't ask me what it is because quite honestly I don't know.

It also means you gotta download a full game too but for none 56k'ers thats not usually something to worry about.

Open beta for wow should probably start around 1 - 2 month before they plan on making it retail (which has'nt been confirmed yet afaik)...usually open beta is just like testing the game out in gameplay terms, leveling system, making sure it works as if you was new to the game and stuff...basically its just like a demo only a full game demo and most major bugs get flattened in the closed beta thats why its usually so close to retail open beta will start. Hopefully its out before christmas because im bored without an MMO to waste time :(

Have you played one? for more than a day? most have a massive learning curve and just because there RPG's does'nt mean you gotta be like "Behold! Oh mighty King" I just like to play the PK'er in MMO's because theres so many people to kill KILL KIILLL!!! :E. Of course it has to be a pvp MMO thats why i liked neocron (the only MMORPG FPS - Its why twilight war has me drooling over it but so long away!) but i quit that just recently after 2 years playing and its good if your new because theres so much to do but after 2 years you've killed everyone several times and it just becomes boring..a bit like a virtual chat room because neocron never leant towards the more adventure type game that WoW will be and more towards the FPS skill > you type game.

MMO's are far superior to a standard deathmatch game e.g counterstrike.

Let see I've played multiple MMORPGs. I played SWG for 4 months, FFXI for about 5 months. I've also played EQ, AC, and others but I don't care to remember. To me they like purpose and direction that's probably why I have such a hard time catching onto them.

Sometimes acually liking the type of MMo helps too

I mean like take EQ2 for example i love the whole medieval/fanasty style of game, as opposed to SWG which had like blaster rifles and things like that.

B.Calhoun... you should just say that that quote is from Evil^Milk in your signature... ;)

Anyway, I'd like to know why some people are saying EQ2 will be better... please tell me. :) Oh, and you can't say it has better graphics, though... that's stupid.

**** you!!! I hate you! Anyways...details? You can talk about anything up to level 9 legally.

I have the WoW site in my toolbar, they update it like twice a day, with new ideas, upcoming patch notes, huge things gameplay wise all the time, thats what betas are for, i remember the Planetside closed beta, that started with a buggy, shitty, exploitable game and at the end it was pretty good

so mr.AcousticToad, the great Ichthyosaur, if your not enjoying the WoW beta then you dont need the key do you?

:D

He kinda got mad when i had it in so i classified it.

And for starters, EQ2 has 16 races as opposed to WoW's 8, EQ2 has sub jobs, Norrath will be larger than the WoW world, SOE did the original EQ amazingly(at the time) and had millions play it which shows they know what they are doing, and EQ2 is just freakin amazing in general, just look at the beta journals. The beta testers said that they made a bunch of new characters just to play the torturial.

EQ2 will rock my world.

just to say, i live in the UK and i was chosen for the US CLOSEd beta because i am special :)

loved the stress test and im loving the beta, i have a lv. 12 undead warlock on beta server 2 (i wont continue with her as its a new server) and a lv.14 paladin on beta server 1 (wit all the uber lv. 60 characters on horses and stuff :) )

anyway, im definately gonna buy it. its so fun. ive allready decided to be a night elf hunter in the full game.

just a little bit of info here- they brought out a new patch that included a deeprun train system between Ironforge and stormwind, which is really cool. There are also goblin zeppelins now, for the horde. They also added loads more sounds (NPCs say random stuff when you click them now) and smoother animations. but 3 days later they brought out ANOTHER patch, but in this one they stripped down the graphics and made it look worse, and changed the camera to make it AWFUL. not only that but there are now TONS of crashes and glitches, none of which were there before- for example, chairs are now completely dodgy and when you sit in them you go into a first person veiw from INSIDE the chair (I.E. you cant csee anything), and sometimes when you finish an action the item you were using now stops working, which is especially annoying for mines. plus the game randomly crashes...

but as soon as the fix this new patch it will all be right as rain again :)

*edit* i dont like EQ2... once you look past the fancy graphics and voice acting, i reckon its gonna be a pretty average game. ive seen many videos and it doesnt look to impressive, it just looks big- i bet SOE will do a star wars galixies on it (make everything REALLY bland and release it when it should still be in the beta stages).

There were Goblin Zepplins for the Horde In the stress test too. I rode around in them with my tauren.
Cool tho, Keep us updated!

OK... one thing thats in the real beta is the auction! they removed it from the stress test (or did i just not notice it?) because it would have been too crowded. The AH (action house) in ironforge (the one in stormwind was so crowded it lagged the whole surrounding area so they removed it early in the beta) is completely packed all the time- even at 5 in the morning US time there are like 20 hig level people trading. And at peak time... there are hundreds! you get to see a lot of kewl shiny swords and uber helmets though, as well as big pets / horses.

anyway, there are people there who will pay insane amounts of money for remotely useful (but common) items. for example- 20 linen cloth goes for 15-30 silver, and yesterday i sold 40 copper bars for 2 gold peices. INSANE I TELL YOU! (for those who dont know, lboth of these are very common but are needed for making things, which is why they are valuable. but 20 copper bars is worth about 6 silver... NOT 100 SILVER!!! oh well, its me that has the money :D )

lol, 40 copper bars for 2 gold? Oh god!

i know, its crazy. i allready have 5 gold ATM- way more than a level 14 paladin should have! at the end of the stress test i was level 17, and i only had 2 gold.

Haha, I was level 19 at the end of the stress test and only had ONE gold! :O

And the auction house was in the stress test. ;) I didn't need to go there, though... people I went questing with, especially ones I went into an instance with, would always hook me up.

Anyway... Suicide... I hope you're being nicer in-game nowadays... I remember you being a real asshole to me... like we had to break OUR backs for you to join our group... wtf was with that?

You must not have been really looking into the game then. Just read up on it more, looks more impresive than WoW. But i havent played either so idk for sure. (im going to be buying EQ2 no matter what anyway). Besides its all about what you like, EQ2 looks like it will be more imersive.

As I only Treked with the Hl2.netters for the first day, All I can recall is someone saying "Lets to go *Blank*". Of course the Path to *Blank* involved 5 lvl 4-5ers goin through westfall....

PS: I dont recall where we were going, So I used everyons favorite vacation spot, *Blank*

what? i dont remember anything like that... what do you mean?
seriously i dont get it... im confused? all i evr did in the stress test was travel with people and provide backup and healing. The only selfish thing i remember doing is fighting before thinking (i.e. chucking a dynamite into 5 trolls lol). Im sorry if i appeared an "asss-hole", but i certainly didnt notice being one... noo-one never brought that to my attention anyway, which is rather strange as most poeple would just say "dont do that" or something. most of the time we just got drunk and killed stuff...?
