Wow.

Been playing all day, I am addicted. The only thing is I wish I would have chosen a cooler clan. I am a Ventrue, though I do like using Dominate within the dialog, hehe!

Hands up those who have palyed the actual pen and paper RPG!?

If you had done, you'd see that bullets do fag all damage to vampires while melee weapons, with their rippy/shreddy actions do normal damage to the undead!

The game is almost entirely faithful to the pen and paper rules regarding the combat and, as a player of the pnp version, I love that fact.

Then points in the firearms skill should be ****ING FREE. And btw, its not just vampires that bullets do shit damage to. Try using them on those hunters you fight in the middle of the game.

Hi there.
I've played Vampire now for several hours and I must say, it's really great. As an old pen&paper player of Vampire:TM and DA, they did a good job taking the rules in. But these bugs are really annoying. As for the German version, there is a little cesnoreship in it, especially in the first intro, besides the fact, it's called uncut (just a PR thingie). I'm really satisfied how they implemented the combat rules. Firearms are not the best choice to fight against Vampires and Hunters have supernatural powers to resist all kind of bash an deadly damage (some kind of Fortitude). Every pen&paper player will say "don't be so stupid and use a gun, if you can use a godd sword or claws."

TBH The guns can be very, very nasty. (Flamethrowers make mincemeat out of everything undead, ammo's eaten like popcorn though...)

Problem is guns only get really good once you start getting the "high level" guns like The Killmatic :)P) Desert Eagle, The weird sniper rifle (144 damage when zoomed o_O) and the SPAS. Then you can start with the pain. But thats only very late in the game.....

The only thing as far as firearms is make them do a little more damage. Just so its compatant and fairly realistic. (EG Guns will hurt humans a lot) but not so its overpowered.

But the rest of it. Better than HL2. Definately.

ive been thinking of gettin this for a while particurly as i cant think of nething to get 4 xmas but all these bugs, glitches, performance issues...i dunno, think they had to wait for hl2 2 finish development yet it sounds more unfinished than hl2,did they all go on vacation or sumit?

Yeah, that's something which leaves me somewhat miffed to be honest- why did they wait for HL2 to be released when there's clearly so many performance/stability issues?

I keep thinking that I should get VTM:BL but I'm a very picky gamer. I have a nagging suspicion that I'll be disappointed...

/\

true ed,im not TOO picky but it would suck to get a game for xmas that blew bcuz of performance issues, dont want to be tweakin all day

Its fairly stable. Although you could argue that testing Bloodlines in nigh on impossible. Unlike Half-Life 2.

Best way to sum it up is "If you liked Deus Ex go get it, just don't ber suprised if something goes tits up on you."

I quite liked both Deus Ex games, and ironically I had performance issues aplenty with DX2 (although no major crashes)... maybe I'll give VTM a try anyway, and hope that patch turns up real soon.

If something does go wrong then usually theres a way to fix it.

If your really paranoid I can point you towards some User Made patches that "apparently" fix the problems.

Its also worth picking up to see some of the amazing stuff the Source Engine can pull off. Like Expressions, which in Bloodlines completely eclipse what you see in HL2.

play it for longer. you might start to like it. at first didn't seem the best but after the first hour or two it gets really really good. & i heard alot of people saying it runs bad even on high end pc's. well i got a p4 2.8 at 3.1ghz & 1024mb ram with a radeon 9800 pro & it runs great. both outdoor & in. when it rains it slows a little but not much. very very playable. also have not seen any real bad bugs or anything. ai is not the best but so was the ai in deus ex. & we all know that that is one of the best games ever. system shock 2 didn't make the best use of guns. either did deus ex. but both games are 2 of the best ever. this one might be too.. time will tell. hope there is a few patches but :)

Yeah, well..
People, if you want to play this game with a better framerate; GET MORE RAM. I got 512 and.. it runs well until you come to bigger areas, which usually mean the big outdoor areas in which you run around to different places (A la Santa Monica and Downtown, etc). Mainly because my comp has to unload previous stuff and load as much as possible into the ram when rendering everything when you walk outside. This takes time and creates great lagg until it's done (And decides to take the rest of the stuff directly from the drive, not much of a difference).

Apart from this issue, and having to load areas constantly, it's one hell of a game. Though I haven't yet seen these.. bugs.. you guys speak of. Don't miss the varied gameplay this offers. They've made an awesome job with the different classes and its disadvantages and advantages.

Those who are unsure, yes there are a few bugs, but there is a patch coming soon! Believe me, I am a very picky gamer, but I took a chance and have been rewarded, this game is awesome, and I've put up with the bugs, when the patch comes out, the experience will just get better!
