Wtf... Ears..

I was expecting pictures of a Dog wearing ear muffs that say "WTF" on them.

:(

I have trouble understanding what people are saying sometimes. I can hear it fine, I just don't understand what they're saying. It's like dyslexia of the ears! I annoy people alot by having to ask them to repeat thing 3 or 4 times. That's why I love teh interwebs.

Edit: I aslo get a ringing in my ears when I go to bed. And I can only hear my pulse when I've done alot of excercise (blood pumping hard in other words), like getting off my fat ass to get a packet of peanuts j/k :P

Well, I have a ringing in my ear too. If there isn't any sound, then my ears start to go "meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" really realyl softly, then it gets louder, and louder, and louder.

And I usually put on some whitenoise before it makes me insane.

I have the same thing. My ears don't ring all the time, but sometimes they do when it's really quiet. I don't know if they're supposed to ring all the time though. I say just call your doctor and ask him or do some more research.

If im in bed with no sound whatsoever going on I can hear a ringing. Its pretty annoying, and it distracts me so I turn on a fan to make noise.

Oh Jesus, thank god. When I read the thread and Dog said hearing that noise was abnormal, I got all freaked out, but then John says it is normal if you hear it just when it's really quiet. And that's the only time I do hear it.

*phew*

same.

My personal belief is that the quiet, constant ringing is a result of cumulative hearing damage throughout your life. All your sound-receptor hairs in your inner ear are going to break down at some point, so the more they get used the faster they will wear out. It's nothing to be worried about at all. Hell, I've noticed it for years, and I've never (until fairly recently) listened to anything that I knew might cause hearing loss, nor have I had any damaging ear infections or blunt trauma to the ear. Heh, that would hurt. Anyhow, the older you get, the more of your receptors will be damaged through normal wear and tear.

So basically, unless I'm entirely wrong, faint tinnitus is nothing to be worried about.

Rimfire, I have the same problem, it sucks so much, especially at work when people are ordering you around :(

No, I really don't get any ringing. Of course, I don't listen to any loud noises, as I hate them. Yes, that includes music. No, I am not a freak.
