On TF2 360 version were still left with the original 5 maps and no update! Plus all the bugs like the double hit bug and the medic super jump wasn't fixed untill soooo long after it was fixed on the PC version. I doubt the 360 will ever have new maps.

/sigh

More like Microsoft hates Valve and it's customers. They aren't happy with Valve providing free DLC, and they don't want updates as frequently as Valve releases on Steam.

Yeah it's more to do with Microsoft themselves not wanting free content on Xbox Live.
Updates probably have to go through Microsoft also, which probably takes time, so they'll do bulk updates and fix a lot of things at once I guess.

Microsoft are picky. Blame them.

Hmmm, I heard that, as far as the maps go, Valve and Microsoft were going to wait until a few more maps get made, then release it in a big map-pack. However, the updates, achievements, and new weapons may not be coming at all, since it would require some pretty big coding hoops or something.

I can't seem to find where I read that in the first place though...

lol because the achievements usually dont earn you something

This has been around for a while. But I expected this when I purchased the Orange Box. Steam's advantages are ever-present. It was discussed a while back. Can you ever imagine Microsoft starting to release future versions of office for free to those users who own an older version of office?

I suspect a big Live update will turn up with various maps and the all unlockables at some point. Probably for a price.

I'm hoping (even though I don't use a console) that Valve will be able to somehow get around Microsoft. While I can't see it happening any time soon, it would certainly set a precedent.

seems kind of unbalanced if only people who purchase the update will get achievements and the guns; those should be free. the map they can pay for though.

Microsoft = Money grabbing

End of Arguement.

Valve probably does hate the Xbox, but for different reasons. The main one being Microsoft is not allowing them to release maps/updates for free. And you get punished for it. Which brings me to the second reason Valve hates the Xbox, because gamers perceive Valve as the cause and not Microsoft.

Moral of the story:

No matter what game you get, the PC version is better.

Even though the maps are free on Steam i would still pay for them if microsoft releases them as dlc.

.. because i'm a wealthy mofo.

I found out that Microsoft do allow free updates of a sort. But it's just upgrades to an existing engine. It's the new content which they appear to have a problem with distributing for free.

Valve are happy spending their own monies to release new content, Microsoft aren't.

Of course this isn't totally selfish on Valve's part, since continuous updates make it much more effort to pirate Steam games, so it makes sense to do continuous updates. But on the other hand Microsoft are in the same situation and they still want to charge you for the privilege.
