i dont get it, i played hl1 singleplayer, but i still dont under stand about alien slaves, and how they got freed, tell me!

I believe we still don't know this, for it is in Half-Life 2..

The Nihlanth(sp?) controlled the Vortiguants via the collars. So after Gordon killed the Nihlanth, the Vortiguants were freed.

i never knew the full story anyway... if you can be bothered, or can find a link, please explain :) that sentance you said Dsty is really intriguing, wouldnt mind knowing more.

what is a Vortiguants? is it an xen? who is Nihlanth? is he/she/thing an xen?

You didnt play HL1? You should, before hl2 atleast.

If you played the whole single player:

Vortigaunts are the alien slaves. The ones that shoot green lightning.

Xen is the alien "planet."

And Nihilanth is the boss of HL1.

Xen is actually closer to a dimension than a planet. They refer to it as a border world...some kind of connector between us and the unknown. The other side may be the source of the combine, or so some have hypothesized.

Some might say (for example, me:D) the the Nihilanth itsself was under the control of something else , that it was infact engineered and constructed to be used as some sort of organic super weapon/teleportation device/mastermind. Much like the humans build fighting vehicles and nuclear bombs, super computers and technological teleports. They say that perhaps the Controlers were in charger, or even some other class of alien we have never seen. Perhaps either something somewhere else on Xen, or something further through dimensions, past the border world and actually in the next dimension.

But thats just another theory :D

no, ive completed the game 3 times, what i meant to say is *back*story. i mean i never new the story of Xen and the aliens, where they came forom, who the G-man is, what role the Nihilanth played... but most of it was never told anyway.

Farrow has an excellent point.
For the record, Nihilanth was biomechanical. All of the Combine's technology seems biomechanical also. *lifts eyebrow*
