X-Box 360

It's certainly given me a few more inches.

Its sexy curves definitely gave me a few extra inches too....

Sony has at least 10 1st/2nd party developers that haven't dissapointed me yet in making great games. I can't wait for some of the 3rd party exclusives. PS3 is at least as powerful as X360, and I wouldn't care if it was only that. So I'll get a PS3.

I've had fun with almost every Nintendo game I've played, and i think the innovation they're bringing is great, so I'll probably get a Rev at least as a secondary console.

I wont deny that X360 is a good console, I'm just not interested in the games and especially not in supporting Microsoft. Sure I'll miss some great games, though the ones from Rare are the only ones I want to play. I'll play my PC games on my PC, and since Microsoft unofficially renamed Bungie "Halo Factory" I'm not expecting much from them. Xbox Live? I don't care if you like paying for Xfire, just don't try to tell me its a good reason to buy the console.

Games I WANT NOW!!!
1.Gears Of War = $60
2.Unreal 2007 = $60
3.Saints Row = $60
4.Alan Wake =$60
5.Halo 3 = $60
1.Also on PC.
2.On PC and PS3 also. Mouse and keyboard(on PC and PS3) ftw
3.I'd rather have the next GTA. Saints Row doesn't seem to have any of the good features that newer GTA's have had, and I doubt the next GTA will come out on X360.
4.On PC and PS3 also.
5.I'd rather have a talented developer like Bungie make a new game(Like the people that left and made Stubbs the Zombie), but thats probably not gonna happen. Halo is meh.

Oblivion is all you need. It will run on your xbox and if your rich your comp too.

Oblivion will rock hardcore.

I imagine trying to play Oblivion on a computer will be kind of like having it reach into your computer, rip the video card out, and rape it several times directly in the heatsink.

torso boy, afaik Gears Of War has not been confirmed for any other gaming platform(Including PC) than the X-Box 360, if we'll see a PC vers, I bet it'll be like with Halo 1 on the PC, i.e. what? 1-2 years later?

and if your rich your comp too.
You don't gotta have the best computer to run Oblivion..you do realize this? You see they're are settings that you can umm "Turn Down" to make it smooth. Yeah it's quite amazing. Their are tons of em I heard.

Great. So it's expensive equipment that's not even going to run at full capacity whereas the cheaper console does so at a reasonable price.

GG

Actually it was originally in development for PC, and they have always presented with the PC version, and most times they present UE3 on PC they demo Gears of War...afaik they have yet to show GoW running on the X360 (Maybe at X05?). I'm not saying it wont run fine, they just havent got it running as well as they would like yet.

No, that's a huge crock. It's been running on the either the Xbox 360 or its development kits for each showing. E3, X05, Zero Hour. It's 60% done and the actual game content is finished, the last 40% is 'polishing' - getting the frame rate up, etc.

Or if you don't love it, keep it to yourself or find some other way to vent your anger. Everyone has already heard all the arguments, they can choose for themselves.

I am absolutely sure they did not show it on dev kits or X360 at E3, I'm pretty sure it was the same at TGS, X05 I'm not sure, and I don't remember them demoing it at Zero Hour. You're letting a little to much of your xbox fanboy side come out Axyon, I never said the X360 can't run it, Epic just wasn't confident about running it off of the kits.

Aaargh. There's no such thing as a fanboy, it's just something people call other people when they can't think of an arguement. I like cheese on toast, and if somebody said "Cheese can't go with toast" I would probably tell them otherwise. Does that make me a cheese on toast fanboy?

:( Sorry, I just hate it when people say that.

I'm not showing fanboyism, I just hate it when people spread misinformation. I didn't say that you said that the Xbox 360 can't run it.

Well buy what you want...I'll just have something the 360 wont...
Mods and the abililty to create em for Oblivion.
But seriously, Oblivion isn't a friggen tech demo it's a game. If you run it at high settings or lowest wont change how you play the game. It's not made for the graphics it is made for the gameplay. Which is why Mods pwn, because they add to the gameplay.

I think we all agree that yes the next gen consoles will have the best price to performance ratio.......can we know try and stay off such a subject?

err, gears of war was presented running (real time) on the final x360 dev kits at zero hour, and they had only had the final kits 2-3 weeks before.

also, in october it was shown (behind closed doors) running on dev kits at x05 and there was a real time demo shown at tgs.

the only demo of it on pc's has been the untitled tech demo for ue 3.0 back in 04 & at e3.

is there any 'proof' it's being released on pc aswell ?

Gratz. I'll play Oblivion at top of the line performance at a reasonable performance, something you won't be able to do without some hefty cash. I guess we'll call it even.

Yes, it's a game. So what's your point then? It seems like like you're trying to one-up the PC against the 360 in this case. Frankly, graphics do matter. People prefer to play their games with bumpmapped high-definition visuals as opposed settings that just past muster.

Ok lets just stop this. This has been gone over and over and over and over.
Yes graphics matter, no graphics do not make a game. Simple the end of story. My whole "It's a game" is about that the game isn't about the graphics but rather the gameplay. A techdemo is about the graphics and not about the gameplay.

Yes if I had a choice to play Oblivion at super settings vs crappy settings I would choose super settings. Your right people do prefer to play it at higher settings. Of course I also don't want games to get boring. Trust me, like any other game Oblivion will get boring. When games get boring I look to Modifications to keep them going.

"I'll play Oblivion at top of the line performance at a reasonable performance,"

? I hope you miswrote this because you can get good performance on a crappy machine it just wont look as good. It will play just as good.

So lets just agree right here that: Yes Pc's cost more to run the game, but in return pc's get modifications to cause the game to overall last much much longer to the user for free.
Simple. End of story. Personally, getting life-skills and modifications are more than enough for me to spend 1k on a computer.

Yes, modifications extend a game's longevity. No, not every game gets a good modding scene, let alone one at all. Yes, Oblivion may indeed have a longer life on the PC. No, that does not mean that all players will download them, or even a majority. I do not recall Morrowind having the kind of burgeoning mod community that, say, the Half-Life franchise has.

And yes, that was a typo. I meant at a reasonable cost.

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with your concluding statement. But modifications are not guaranteed, so it's fallacious assume that the PC counterpart of a console title will automatically reap the rewards of free content, at least of quality.

I do.
No massive Tc's, but tons upon TONS upon TONS of modifications are out their... Let alone it is super easy to create your own.
I mean their is one that completey revamps the combat, adds horses(Mounts), over 200 new types of well placed new enemes(1 mod), tree changes, new much better textures, ones that fix bugs\text, one that changes tree's based on season\add's seasons, add new landmass, quests, dungeons, swords, armors, races, faces, and well thats basically the swords dull edge.
I use http://morrowind.ttlg.com/registry/viewall.asp
http://mwsource.com/files/
Not only this but certain projects that have been taken up to try and add Multiplayer and such to the game.

Bethesda has promised a greater Construction Set this time around.

Yes, modifications extend a game's longevity. No, not every game gets a good modding scene, let alone one at all. So playing that as some kind of a trump card is erroneous.
Lets see...
HL2, HL, Farcry, Doom 3, BF:1942, BF: Vietnam, Quake 3, Morrowind, Rome: TW, Civ4 is even going to have a SDK released Q1 2006, D2, CoD, Wc3 a little, Starcraft, UT2004, UT2003, UT, and so on and so on
Umm I'd have to disagree... Plus since were talking about adding on to a games life, we should thus include custom content like maps and models. This is basically why Starcraft can reach over 120,000 users, tons of people play Wc3, and well just about every game up that I listed before.

Alright, you've named 17 PC games with huge mod scenes out of nearly a decade's worth of PC games that get released. Tell me, how is that at all a counterexample to what Absinthe said?

I feel minerel is right, simply because those games listed are the ones a serious PC gamer would be most likely to invest in, no your not guaranteed lots of extra brilliant free content and game types, but the fact that there is a strong possibility owns hands down.

Its my personal opinion of course also that the xbox 360 is a rip off at present, the games are beautiful and id buy it if the present games included where a bit more appealing but i can get equal satisfaction out of older titles on PC and Xbox despite the graphical quality, GTR is a kickass PC racing game, project gotham looks superb, but i got so bored so fast after id stopped gauking at the environment, PDZ .. wicked parrallax mapping, cool weapons, ragdoll fun, motion blur effect's, brilliant, lovely, but i felt the gameplay was so stiff it never quite hit the spot and I think my friends where the same with it, they wanted to actually play the first halo instead because we agreed it wasnt anywhere near as fun.

imho it will be worth it in 3 or 5 months time, but i cant really understand some people with the compulsion to be the first in line on the open day, like some kind of desperate addict looking for a fix.

The 360 is hardly a rip-off, and offers superb hardware for the money. One of the reasons I got a 360 early was to play Oblivion at high settings without spending an arm and a leg. (i'm not really fussed about mods - not having the time to play the many decent games that are released, let alone stretching out and already very long game with user made content) The other was to play PDZ in co-op - which is superb.

I'm enjoying CoD2 more on the 360, and have found PDZ and Condemned to be leagues ahead of titles like FEAR/Quake 4 etc. Kameo may not be for everyone, and it isn't up there with Rare's older platformers, but looks stunning with the right setup. PGR3 is also lovely.

So - it's not about being first in the line, it's about having some good gaming over Christmas.

Because he said that bringing up Modifications was worthless. Mods\Custom Content keep a game going that long. They add that much more gameplay and that much more life and that much more gameplay to a game. If starcraft a game made in 1998, gave me a good 5 years good gaming with it. 2 of them just being what shipped with the game and 2 of them being custom community made content and 1 of them creating such content myself along with playing the custom content. This game still almost 8 years after it's release averages 60k - 80k people and tops over 150k. That is what custom content can do for a game.

I would have to agree the 360 is not a rip off and if you don't really care about modifications and want to play the game at highest settings I would completely agree and recommend the 360\PS3 to someone.

it's about having some good gaming over Christmas.
Soo right.

Ok Ive had my 360 for a about 4 days now and I must say that I am very very pleased with it. At first I had my doubts especially in the grapchis department because Im used to having everything cranked and looking its best on my pc setup. Even when I went to gamestop to play the kiosks demos my opinion of the 360 was well, meh no biggy. However after having the system and playing it I was very wrong. As soon as I first played the 360 on my buddys hd projector I was in aww the games look great better than anything Ive seen on pc's so far. I just got back in town tonight and plugged it into my normal tv and again I must say that even on a non hd tv it still looks great, I am very pleased with this system to say the least and have put a large amount of time into it already. To answer the original posters question YES I would definitly go out and grab this system, true that ps3 is yet to come out but in any regards 360 is a kick ass system and I cant see how ps3 could top it IMO (Im gonna be getting PS3 as well though). I was concerend that this "next-gen" wouldnt give me that "wow" factor well boy was I wrong and I'm glad I was!!

I gotta say that would be awesome to play it on a hd projector

Liar. I simply think that playing that is some kind of trump card is the height of ignorance. Well, maybe not the height, but somewhere on that pyramid.

You guys do know there will be mods released for morrowind on the 360 right? What do you guys think we have Xbox Live for?

Can I please read where Bethesda announced this? I don't remember anything about Morrowind and mods or Oblivion and mods.
I know for Oblivion they are optimized very differently down to the rendering engine. This can easily affect mods and they would have to be reoptimized for the 360 itself. Models and Textures would need to be reoptimized, and who do you thinks gonna do this? Bethesda? To every little mod or just to the major ones? The major ones would require quite a bit of work to port them because of major modifications.
If Bethesda does this...they have to pay people..they have to pay for bandwidth..major mods = alot of space.....
Could you see: "Download Mod" - $15

Though I do believe Bethesda said something about "Official Mods" there were about 5 of these done by Bethesda for Morrowind...nothing at all fancy really. I believe they did say they might release Offical Mods for the 360 for oblivion on....what did they say ohh yes "the marketplace". So you could expect a few rather simple mods for $$ avaiable by bethesda.

I don't get what the point is in arguing about the 360 vers of Oblivion vs the PC..
I'll just get the 360 first, and when there starts coming out some good mods for the PC vers, I'll get that, probably at a reduced price.:)

and when there starts coming out some good mods for the PC vers
Im guessing there will be about 50 in the first week adding\fixing things. Many TC's have actually already started.
I can't wait to mess around with the new construction editor.

Can anyone tell me the soonest date I could get a 360 here in the uk? Im guessing sometime in jan/feb. :(

16 hours to wait in the freezing cold for a game console? Are you for real? Were they offering free blow jobs for people in line too? Could you even get it up if it was that cold? C'mon, guys- i just waited a few days and bought 1 from the store with no waiting, no lines. Why the insane urgency?

Only a blow job could get me to wait for anything besides the grocery store line to the cash register, or the movie theater line for well, the tickets. Seriously, only in America.

I'll wait for the PS3 while I'm at it. Oh and guess what, I'll wait 2+ weeks to get it when its released, seeing as how I don't like to wait 12+ blowjobless hours for a box that plays mario, or whatever.
