yeah...updated and viewed.
i suppose its good...but if they want hardcore X-Men fans to love the movies, staying closer to the comics would have helped...but we all know Hollywood likes to cater to the masses, its where the money is.
 
Hell, I'm a comic book guy *points up*
But I'm not going to begrudge the writers the ability to fiddle with the story, since comics and movies are two incredibly different mediums. Pretty much any good comic book movie (with the one exception of Sin City) has included significant alterations to the story.

usually at the request of the studio due to marketing concerns: ie batman toy-ins, "bruce" being a gay sounding name, or cuz they're guys in suits who've never read a comic book in their lives or had any sort of life experience that doesnt revolve around the aquisition of money ..in other words rich guys who couldnt care less about things like plot, fanbase, creative vision ..all they see is bottom line
