X2 : The Threat

I'm not sure how new this is, but I just downloaded the demo the other day and i'm completely gobsmacked by how good a game it is.

The graphics are absolutely awesome (9800p DX9 all the way baby!)

The gameplay reminds me a LOT of Elite (that really old space simulator, I had it on the spectrum and atari ST and loved it to bits)

It's well worth checking out if you have a nice machine. Reccommend you play it with a joystick though, its hard to shoot the enemy without one.

Downloaded the demo, but the control managed to just frustrate the hell outta me. I gave up during the tutorial because it just became too annoying.
Its just really not my thing. I love the whole space flight concept but prefer more streamlined approaches like Freelancer and other games.

Yeah the default joystick controls is VERY annoying. BUT as you load the game you get the box up to configure the controls, just tick the 'swap roll/rudder' or something like that, makes it a few thousand times better to control.

man.... Elite, I remember that game, was great fun. Space shooters arent really my thing, but Ima give it a go regardless.

Exactly what happend to me, exept I have no joystick so i couldnt eaven turn the damned ship around with out a major hassle.

gameplay sucks......gfx are nice.

and i will take gameplay over gfx any day.

i have read reviews. apparantly, the gameplay is amazing and theres so much to do. You can start a war and hire fleets to fight for u while u go around as a bounty hunter nicking stuff. i DLed the demo a week ago, but i aint even installed it yet. might do now.
