X800 Se

I just got a new computer with a 128mb X800 SE graphics card in it. Could someone tell me how that stacks up next to other card now available.

since its 1) got 128mb of ram and 2) is "special" (read: retarded) edition, its probably significantly worse than the x800 pro. no biggie though, im sure its still up there with the 9800pro, etc.

The X800 se's have hit the street? Let me guess you have a Dell?

No site has performance numbers, but I can tell you a bit about your card.

8 Pixel Pipelines
256 bit memory bus
450 Core clock speed
400 MHz DDR 1 memory

From what I gather, the performance should be somewhat close to the 6800 GPU (the generic one) from Nvidia. At the very worst, it is faster than a 9800 XT.

Basically, you have a very good graphics card. You should handle HL2 with ease.

Thanks. yeah i knew it couldn't be anything really great but it still runs all the new stuff like Doom 3 and the MoHPA demo smoothly with most of the stuff turned up high

But for the "features" it's hell.

Don't try to upgrade it. The psu is the wrong size, too low wattage, cant change the mobob, the mobo tray uses non-standard screw spacing...

There are a few of the problems.

lol i have a dell. but i am getting a new mobo (see the G.E.A.R. thread) so i am also upgrading everything else. so in a month i wont have a dell

i am also going to buy a case now to do a cool HL2/cs case mod
