Is the ATI Radeon X850 the "best" video card from ATI right now? Im looking to buy a new one and will spend however much is needed......

Right now, the best card you can get is an ATI x850 XT PE......but, it's kind of a waste of money. Not much different at all than the x800, so you might as well hold off on buying something if you have something decent right now, or buy an x800 XT and save yourself a few dollars.

Beware as the x850 cards are PCI express ONLY!

They're only a couple of frames faster than an X800 XTPE - but seem to take up two slots.

Given the choice i'd rather have a X800 XTPE.

And because of the fan it takes up more power too.
It's only 20Hz core and 15MHz memory faster than the X800XT PE (AGP).
