I never knew about this, is this true? If so it sucks imo.:\

"With the launch of Microsoft's next-generation video game console, Xbox 360, Xbox Live will go through a major upgrade. The most notable upgrade are two forms of subscriptions called Silver (the default, free service, online game play for weekends only) and Gold (requiring a subscription and featuring online gaming)."
From Wikipedia, I know they're not the most reliable "source" but you never know.

This has been known for a while now.

You pay for the equivalent of a gold subscription with the Xbox, so what's the problem in continuing that for the 360?

I don't use XBL currently, what's the price? Is it per month or per year?

Well seeing as the "Free" version of Xbox life for the current Xbox is "none at all", I'd say that's pretty good.

Ouch, Xbox Live is subcription based even for the first Xbox? Microsoft are owning you all.

Considering most people who use XBL only play Halo/Halo 2 as well.

From what I hear it's very cheap, it sounds good to me.

I picked up a year subscription for twenty quid, which is very cheap for the UK (It was on offer, though).

meh..mod the 'box..play online for free..just say no to XBL!

You know that isn't true ;)

I play Xbox live for the variety it offers - which is lacking on the pc.

Anyone for some SF2? :)

Hmmm, why is this bad? Free online gaming, and it's very reliable.

PS2's network wasn't great at all, just allowed you to find other PS2's, and really did nothing else.

I have a year subscription to XBL that ends in October, looks like I'll have to renew it when the time comes around :p

Yeah, XBL is a very good service, well worth the money IMO... They continue to expand it, and it never has problems with speed, and a great interface too. I'll definately go Gold.
