Xbox 2 Specs

Yeah, and the best news is that they have announced Project Gotham Racing 3 to be released on the Xbox2 - Anyone who has played PGR2 on the Xbox will know how sweet that is, and how absolutely amazing the third one will be on a console with that spec.

Personally, I can't wait :D

Haven't bought a console since Nintendo 64. Not about to start.

Hopefully Xbox 2 will have more than one title powering its sales. :p

i wonder what the price tag is going to be on that thing!

If Perfect Dark Next comes out for the XBox 2 i'll have no choice but to buy it :/ ........ bloody games. (there's bound to be Halo 3 aswell)

ill take a PS 3 instead :)

Why on earth would you do that? :)

Assuming my pc is up to date, my priorities go Nintendo, XBox and then Sony PS (and only if i'm short of door stops/paper weights XD)

if these specs are Real then the Ps3 will smash it power wise. i also have very big reason to believe that Sony keeping there mouth shut on absolutly any Ps3 info is part of there "surprize" strategy. nobody knew a whole lot about the Ps2 till a little under a year before its release. also Japan loves Sony and the Ps3, MS thinking they can overtake this are crazy, look at the N64 and the PS. also the Ps3 im sure will be hear early 2006. i doubt very much that Sony will give MS anything more then a 6 month lead. then the Ps3 will drop in Japan and sell out. then drop is US and Euro areas. im guessing a March 2006 Japan release for the Ps3, and a Summer or November 2006 release for US to catch the christmas rush. also i wouldn't be surprized if MS was someway or another forced to "delay" the XB2.

You're probably right. But sales don't always equal quality, infact the opposite is often true.

'look at the N64 and the PS'

The N64 had far superior games, some of the best ever made imo, yet the PS blew it away in terms of sales. Remeber all the hype about the PS2 'emotion engine' - and what a load of crap that turned out to be :/

I'm sure all 3 consoles will have enough power, it's the games that will determine which is the best system.

The PS1 had many great games as well. Besides Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, which were classics, the N64 was filled with very comical, childish products. Some of these were very good, but PS1 opened the door to much more mature games, and IMO better games. The PS2 is the current leader because it also has the best games. The PS3 will be the next leader because of the people who are currently very happy with their's PS2's.

Nintendo and Sony are both very good companies, but if I only get one console, which I probably will, then it will be PS3. The X-BOX is out of the question, I already have a PC.

sony is gonna have to kick it up a notch to compete with that

I have still yet to see an incentive in buying an X-Box. Most of it's games are either crap, or avialable on other systems. If Microsoft plan to do well, they need to get more exclusives (good exclusives), as well as appeal to eastern markets -- something they just couldn't do with the X-Box. As for these new specs, well, I wouldn't get my hopes up -- many consoles with ridiculously powerful specs have come and gone, mostly due to a lack of decent exclusive games.

The playstation 3 will undoubtedly do brilliantly -- the name alone holds a strong international reputation; the very idea of PS3 not doing well is just rubbish. :)

Uh so you didn't play games like Body Harvest? Or Duke Nukem Zero Hour or Bio Freaks or any of the rather more than mature games? Did you even play Conkers Bad Fur Day?

I'm more intrested in Forza motorsport, looks much better than GT4 graphically and is made by digital eclipse - the makers of PGR 1/2, railisport and battlefield 1942.

Bungie has assured that Halo can't have another sequel - as the story will probably end in halo 2. We could expect a prequel (halo: the first strike) but I really don't want bungie to make halo a never-ending story. You can make this out if you've been following th books.

As for Perfect drak zero - I'm betting all my money it's the launch title for xbox next.

duke was censored for the 64... the strip club was turned into a damn warehouse...

i will wait for the PS3 aswell... isnt the xbox2 un-compatible with xbox games or somthing... thats what i heard. sony is the god of the console market...

What about Zelda OoT or Mario 64, these are undoubtably classics - to dismiss either as 'childish' would be ridiculous (both still offer more reward and depth than any pc game, bar a few possible exceptions, I can think of)

There were many good titles - Pilot Wings, Jet Force Gemini, Majora's Mask, ISS 64 (untill PES/WE was the best footy title), No Mercy (still the best wrestling game by far), Paper Mario etc etc

I'm not saying the PS had no good games (I loved MGS and FF7) it just had no 'great' games. Maybe Gran Turismo - but driving isn't my thang. Where was its Golden Eye/Mario 64?

So many games that come out are shite, for all systems. How many real classics have been released on the pc? (titles that can compete with HL) a handful? imo it's worth buying a console if it has just one of these amazing games - and the N64 had 4 :)

"Hell, who needs Nintendo? We have Counter-Strike and Halo! Mushroom pickups? Pah! Mushroom CLOUDS more like! I don't need innovation and depth; I wanna blow shit up!!"

I hate it how people in the west really underestimate Nintendo games, simply because they look "childish", or they're not mature enough (which, for the most part, is in fact untrue). Such elitist rubbish. Since when did that count as a legitimate criticism? I find that with Nintendo consoles, you're getting a lot more bang for your buck. There may be less games then on other consoles, but the N64 and GameCube have more brilliant exclusives than any other console! Most of the games for PS2 and X-Box are utter rubbish -- there are still calssics on both, but they simply can't compete with the level of quality Nintendo constantly set themselves. The japanese get it; the GameCube is far more popular than the X-Box over there.

^ very true.

It amuses me is when people belittle Nintendo games for being 'cartoony' and for children before going off to play army XD

Mario 64 is as 'grown up' as Counter Strike. Interestingly, most people who vehemently disagree with such a statement are often kids/teenagers themselves. Another amusing irony.

Your thinking of the Wrong Duke Nukem.

I'm thinking of Duke Nukem: Zero Hour which was the Third Person one. Which incidently was a very immersive title.

Hey, I like the N64, it's a great console. I just like the PS1 better. And no, I don't see Zelda or Mario 64 as very mature games, but they're still very good. The PS1 had many great games, especially MGS (which is probably my favorite of all time). The games were new and original because they focused on an older audience. I just like it better, and I liked PS2 a lot better than NGC. Judging from precedence, I will probably like PS3 better than NGC2 (or whatever). The only console I don't like is X-BOX, because all the games worth owning for it are on PC or PS2.

I don't believe it Sprafa.

Many of my friends, including clan mates, have kids and full time jobs, yet still find time to play games, and go to the pub, movies etc. The time is there, just not as much.

If gaming is a hobby you genuinely want to pursue there's no reason why you can't.

The industry certainly isn't dying.

I remember hearing bungie say that there will be a halo 3....

I will be buying an Xbox 2, but not a PS3. Consoles are rarely about sheer power, but more about usablity and features. The thing I liked about the Xbox in the first place was the fact it had managed to cut down load times to an acceptable level, rather than the 3 minute waits of the PS2, and the fact that Live was there.

I have every faith that Microsoft will deliver again, and despite how much I don't like the company, I'll be one of the first in line.

Oh god....

My worst fear is that consoles will reach photorealism before PCs do....

That would just suck in my opinion...

I mean titles would just be made for consoles....

As always, I'm going to wait until I see all three before I make my decision.

Eventually, when everyone owns HDTV's (or newer technology) and consoles have controllers that are perfect for FPS and RTS games, PC gaming will start to go the way of the dinosaurs. PC's are much more expensive, they require more knowledge, they require more upkeep, they can be infected, and their only major advantage lies in the mouse and keyboard (which haven't gotten much support by console game makers).

Consoles are getting hard drives, decent online play, DVD playing capability, etc. Consoles will eventually take over the entire entertainment side of the PC market. Sure, PCs will still exist... just not for gaming.

I'm a big PC Gamer... but I admit that I will have to eventually move over to consoles (or grow up..... hehe... yeah, right). Well... I have owned dozens of consoles, but they never got the amount of play time that my PC did.

It's sad that one of the most well-made games on the N64 (Conker's Bad Fur Day) was overlooked by people that don't like cartoony graphics and people that don't like dirty jokes... effectively, the entire N64 market. The graphics were possibly the best I remember from the N64, it made excellent use of its MP3 decoder (What other N64 game had as much dialogue packed onto a cartridge?), it had hilarious spoofs and pop culture references, the gameplay was actually fun, and it had loads of variety in the multiplayer gametypes. In fact, I almost prefer its multiplayer over Halo (except there is slow down in 4-player mode, there is a max of only 4 players, I love Halo's vehicles, and... most importantly... my N64 broke years ago).

I'm really looking forward to "Conker: Live and Reloaded" on the XBox.

Seriously.... I mean OoT was like... the best game EVAR. And I always thought the 64 had better graphics :dozey:

My perfect console:

My perfect console:

The Y-Box. (Everyone who knows what I'm talking about will agree.)
