So it doesnt have dual cpu's instead its got 3 cores. That will probably keep the cost a bit lower and the heat down then if it were 3 separate cpu's. But i still think this is going to be friggin expsensive. And im wondering why they havent decided to put a hard drive in. Its almost like there taking a step backwards. But maybee a 12x dvd drive is enough. They didnt mention if they would support directx 10. Just that they excedd the directx 9 standards. Does anyone think that 256mb of ram is enough. I think the xbox right now only has 32 or was it 64. It wasnt much though from what I remeber.

Aha. Experts say it will cost Billy 500 dollars to produce one box, but he will sell it for 200 anyway.

They said it hasnt been decided if a HDD will go in. I think they will put it in seeing as it was one of Xboxs defining qualities.

If they dont put the HDD in they will have one you can purchase. 256mb of ram should be perfect. It has 64 currently, and due to its lower resolution its able to run games that computers have difficulty running.

But what about HDTV wouldnt it be running at higher resoultion then?

I dont think Xbox 2 will be over 350, the mass console market won't pay for a console over that much.

hdtv doesnt actually RUN in higher resolution, i think the tv simply magnifies it to hd. i may be wrong, dont quote me on that. :smoking:

Mm so resolution would effect the amount of graphics RAM needed, but have no impact on system RAM at all. Nevertheless I agree that will be enough. A triple-core processor would seem to need a substantial L2 cache though. One thing's for sure, that's not going to be a small die! (Well almost for sure).

I would be willing to bet that if it doesn't have an HDD, it will end up with some type of non-volatile storage solution.

probably just a stpuid suggestion but what if there using large flash media cards or something. Its probably a lot cheaper then having a hard drive. But i would see no point in doing that. Probably wouldnt even increase your load times at all over just using a DVD rom.
