Im almost beginning to cry when i hear that the performance in PS3 is twice as XBOX 360. This makes me feel stupid of buying 360, but itll be twice as expensive and released in almost one year from now. So my choice is 360 :D

Whats yours ?

if you guys think its useless i just wouldnt reply...dont bother..

it had to of grabbed your attention enough to read it to reply...

Actually, I could smell Pesmerga owning someone, so I stepped in to see what all the mess was about.

Useless.

If Gabe is correct, your fanboyish wet dream is false, and you're just another fish hooked customer.

you have yet to make a competent reply to this thread...

ps3 or xbox360, thats all he asked..

Personally Ill go with the xbox360..

John Carmack made some great points about the upcoming consoles when he made his keynbote speech at QuakeCon.

First off, he said not to believe the hype surrounding the PS3. Carmack brought up the fact that Sony hyped their Emotion Engine and the end result was nowhere near the initial showings.

Secondly, he believed that we wouldn't see the true power until sometime around the release of the generation after the PS3, Xbox 360.

Actually all of my posts were quite competent. I'll buy both, but neither will get much use, as consoles are quite useless if you own a PC. Might pick up a Revolution, depending on how it turns out.

Now, back to this thread being useless.

I'm going with the Revolution. To hell with the steroid injected millionares consoles!

Yeah, I'm also sticking with Nintendo. I've been playing Nintendo games for, literally, my entire life... and there's not an end in sight (as long as their games stay fun). I might end up buying a second console, but the Nintendo comes first.

Speaking of Nintendo... have there been any new Revolution rumours as of late?

yeah but thats how sony will get many sales. from those who believe that since their hardware is theoretically better, that the console itself and games will be better overall. they gotta take the oppurtunity to make $ off of dumb people.

personally ill probably go with xbox360, and if ps3 has some worthy games, ill get it. if you buy both consoles, its about the same amount of $ for a single PC system upgrade.

I agree with a lot of you that the topic of this thread is being done to death all over the 'Net right now.

The only thing anyone can say for sure regarding these two systems is that they will both be pretty powerful and they will both have some pretty cool games. Everything else is just hearsay and fanboy propaganda.

No one has even seen these things running at 100% yet, so people who talk about one being more powerful than the other based on misleading figures need to keep their mouths shut until the games are released and we see what each system can do.

For the millionth time, its about GAMES, not power. Sony had the games by a long shot this generation(MS had the power, but that in and of itself doesn't equate to great games) and I don't see it changing too much in the future. Let's just wait and see, shall we?

Exactly. And anyway, the X360 and PS3 do things differently, so you can't really compare them on just their technical points. I'd wait for both consoles to come out first before making any judgements, but even so, it's pretty obvious that both consoles will be good.

There's bound to be must have games on both systems.

If Perfect Dark Zero is half the game the original was it will be worth the price tag of the 360 alone :) I'm quite a big fan of Xbox Live too - it's great being able to play the type of games the pc doesn't cater for online (particularly SF2 and PES :))

Getting a Revolution is a no brainer :)

Im not trying to collect posts or start threads to get attention, i just wanted to know what you guys prefer of these two, even if the PS3 seems to be much better.

What about " if Gabe is right ? "

xbox had the games (not as many as ps2 because it's a much older console; but this round microsoft is looking very good, it already has almost all the popular/good developers in japan), and the services.

but yes, this thread is stupid.

Perfect Dark, i remember when i used to play it against my friend on his Nintendo 64, awesome game and i enjoyed each second, its one of the good games to play with friends :D

I doubt the difference in power between the next gen consoles will be that much. It's all about the software

The very best games of this generation appeared on the pc and Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft consoles. The next will be the same :)

they have Konami on some games, but im worried if Silent Hill 5 will end up for XBOX 360, what do you think ?

I find it funny that the Revolution's selling point as of right now is that it can play games everyone has on older nintendo consoles and/or roms on the their computer. Seriously, Nintendo has to rethink this whole thing through, I mean, no specs at ALL, no controller, no nothing. The ONLY confirmed thing the Revolution has is its lame ability to play old games. Thats typical Nintendo with their re-releases and ports and what-not.

Maybe Revolution will ****ing own.

Or maybe not. Perhaps it will be a revolution, perhaps it may be a stinker. Who knows.

is it just me, or is the revolution the only console that we know whats going to be on it, in what way its going to be a success, and what games we can expect..

Im kind of sick of the bickering between who is better, Sony or MS. I dont care.

I never cared for the gamecube as much, now im wishing i had, im starting to see where nintendo is coming from. Its not about millions of dolllars pumped into tech, its about the games, and quality.

If a company has a mega-ultra-double-xgs-insanimundo 9000 processer, but people cant code/dont code for it. Who cares about it?

We will see...

As the PC developer he is, of course Carmack will not like the XeCPU and the CELL. PC developers seem utterly terrified by the new CPUs, console devs? Not so much, but they have gotten used to the Emotion Engine and the likes. :)

About the PS2s first showing, the PS2 games utterly DESTROYES what Sony first showed. You cant possibly think the PS2 has not surpassed the first tech demos, if you do you are stupid.

Some people have a horrible memory. :)

Yeah but Nintendo are laying low until they want to release their specs and show off whats coming. They're playing it smart by not hyping it all up.

Revolution ftw :E

but any of the three will do, i wouldnt complain if i can get my hands on one for nothing. But if i have to pay... its the Rev :E

Why isn't Pesmerga banned yet? It seems like all he ever does is flame and spam.

You must agree that 360 looks much better than PS3 and not to mention their controller.
But looks isnt any important. Even if PS3 is much better when its about performance, i doubt any games will look that much better on PS3 than 360, 360 is released long before PS3 and that is a big plus. This means 360 will have alot more games than PS3 available and i heard that the games for PS3 takes longer to create than for 360. :D

I dont care how long it takes to make the games or how good they look (they'll all look pretty good, c'mon, there's going to be a certain standard here...). It's about the gameplay and how many good RPG's are going to come out for these babies :E

I don't really think the PS3 will actually outperform the Xbox 360 in the end. As far as I know, the the Xbox 360 is structured better to run more complex AI and has the better graphics chip, no? I don't really think that developers will get the full use out of the power Sony seem to be attributing to the PS3 for a long time yet.

Oh, and I don't like the blu-ray format.

No and no.

I don't really think that developers will get the full use out of the power Sony seem to be attributing to the PS3 for a long time yet.

We will probably see the same type of evolution on the PS3 as the current gen formats. More and more advanced games.
GT3 vs GT4
PGR vs PGR2
Tekken Tag vs Tekken 5
MGS2 vs MGS3 (!)

The developers who are good at the Emotion Engine (Kojima Productions, Naughty Dog, PolyPhony etc) will have a lead over other devs when it comes to CELL development, most likely.
But totally clueless developers should not panic, Sony is building up quite good looking development library for its PS3 Devkits (unlike the first PS2 Devkit which came with uncompleted documents).

etc etc

Oh, and I don't like the blu-ray format.

Well you better start liking it soon (if you want to watch HD movies), cause it looks like its hauling HD-DVDs ass. :)

Actually, it all depends what developers can do with the machines.

"360 is structured better to run more complex AI." Not if you can't code it well it isn't.

"360 has the better graphics chip." Have we seen these things running at 100% with clean code from anyone yet? But I will say that nvidia's SLI looks A LOT better than ATIs crossifre and that 7800 is a monster! (But I still love my x850xt pe.)

"I don't think developers will get the full use out of the power Sony seem to attributing to the PS3 for a long time yet." Do you really think anyone will be able to take full advantage of the power of these next gen systems right off the bat? No. It will be quite a while before we see what these systems can REALLY do.

Like many have said before, there's a big learning curve when it comes to optimizing code for mulit-core systems. But when people start to get it and we have games that really push the system, we will all be very satisified indeed.

"and I don't like Blu-Ray." Who can say yet which is better since neither are even out yet? Still, I would be willing to bet on Blu-Ray simply on the fact that Sony is using them for the PS3. Its pretty even ground when it comes to studios supporting the formats, but when you factor in an installed base of 90million+ Sony fans, it starts to look like a great investment. Sure, not everyone who has a PS2 will get a PS3, but look what PS2 did for DVD. It was the main reason I got my PS2 and I bet its the same for many others.

Now everyone: Wait until they're out to make claims!!!

I'm going with Revolution...I have yet to see a single bad Nintendo published game...

Plus, they actually make and publish their own hits :D
