I bought a wired headset for my wireless 360 controller, but I couldn't talk to anyone on live, or hear them. I thought it was broken, but I could send voice messages to my friends and they could send them back. All the games I was testing them on had voice. I brought one of my friends over, and he came to the conclusion that the microphone port on the controller was faulty, not the microphone itself. However, when I was playing with my friend on Left 4 Dead, I could hear him. Only him, no one else. I asked my other friend if the 360 had a setting that only allows you to talk with your friends, but he said he wasn't aware of such a feature. Now, I just want to ask you guys a question. What the hell is going on with my mic?

There is a setting in privacy settings that lets only your friends hear your voice I think.

Thanks, that did the trick! But now I have a (nother) problem. Randomly during a game, the mic stops working. I have to disconnect/reconnect my controller to get it to work, and it only works for a couple seconds. It just never ends with this thing.

Never mind guys. I bought a wired controler and that seems to have fixed it.
