XBOX live on XBOX 360

Okay...I am hoping that XBOX live will be free this time..I think it is..if you watch the gamespot video, a person who worked on the XBOX said that the XBOX will have a so called "gold" membership..where you can play games online...I know you will have to pay for that but if you just wanna download new updates for games..I think it's free..if that's true..that's kinda cool.
