Anyway, I was wondering... If and when I build my new pc, I don't plan to put it online. This is because the only access I can get where I live is dial up, and I really just want to keep my new pc as clean and fresh for as long as I can. But I remember when we got this computer we had like 30 days to go online and register our copy of winxp, now my copy will be legit, but I won't be able to register it online because I don't want to have internet on this pc... what do I do? Also will hl2 require an internet connection just to play single player?

Bonus question!) How do you make it where windows media player isn't your default player when opening avi files from the internet?

Easy enough.

You call the listed 1-800 number to activate Windows XP. You enter a code they give you over the phone.

Half-Life 2 installed out of the box will not need to connect online at all.

And you can open an Explorer window (Go to my computer). Tools/Folder Options and then the File Types tab. Find and select the extention (e.g. .AVI) and click Change.

The shortcut is to rightclick on a file of that type and go to properties. There should be a Change button next to 'Open with:'.

That's with Windows XP.
