I'm trying to follow the COlt 911 tutorial that someone on these forums released a while ago, and so far I've gotten as far as having rotoscope turned on, so I've got a sideview of the gun in my viewport.

Well, whenever I try to zoom in or out or just pan in the viewport with the picture...it takes about 3 seconds for XSI to respond to the movement. Sometimes it's take over 30 seconds..depending on how much I move the view around.

What's the deal? All I've got in there is a bloody picture?!

Nope no other geometry

Specs-

P4 2.26 GHz
512 mb RAM
9800 Pro 128 mb

My mobo is some generic piece of trash. HDD 120 gigs

I think XSI just doesn't like the picture, because I just put a different one in...and no "lag" at all.

Zooming in helps for some odd reason, but yes, that picture does lag.

rotoscope images r pretty gay, because (i'm pretty sure) they are software rendered. so waht u do is create plane, then, press the button to change the shading (default says wireframe) and the 1st option is override object properties, make sure its not checked (just click on it once). The press ctrl+4 and ur side menu changes to the pallets and scripts menu. U see a bunch of blocks, now pick the one thats says T (which stants for textured) and click on the plane which u want to use as a background image. This will make the plane render as shaded in all viewports that dont override the properties. Apply the texture to the plane u got urself a pseudo-rotoscope that is rendered in hardware. It wont lag as much.
