Hey.

Is there some sort of a definitive, comprehensive tutorial which goes through the process of taking a (static) model from XSI and compiling and putting it into source so I can place it in a map.

All of what I've seen so far have been not quite detailed enough to help me compile the model for a STATIC prop and get it into Source.

I'll tell you what I've done so far:
I've made my model, which isn't concave (its a lamp post) and its all lovley. I've also added a couple of lights to it. I select all in XSI, and then I go to the ValveSource menu, and go Export SMD. I think this might be where I'm having a problem. I go through the process of exporting the model (which is good), but then at the end a message in the help bar says "ERROR: Nothing to export" even though I've got everything selected :| It still makes a SMD file which is 26bytes (seems a little small to me...)

I've tried using the Compile utility in the skicky anyway, and that just gives me a couple of textures which have been compiled, and no model.

Why might Export SMD be giving me this problem? Any ideas?

i havnt got to exporting any of the models ive done for my mod yet but im pretty sure there are sum tutorials on it try hl2coders.com or sumit like that
