xsi owns animatoin tools of max
xsi poly tools are pretty much the same as max except the workflow is different (and i prefer it in xsi)
i prefer the xsi interface (everything is there, dont have to search through a lot of menus)
xsi advance destroys max in rendering, dynamics, particles and hair.
As far as I know, they both use Mental Ray 3thereisaspoon said:xsi advance destroys max in rendering
look for desty's xsi video tutorial, he completely models a colt 1911 in xsi 4. Its a few pages back in this section, or just search for xsi video tutorial or something like that.dudeman said:Anyone know any free video tuturails for super begginers, they help me alot more than these PDFs im using.

Don't know if it's true, but someone said that XSI is the step up if you started modeling with Lightwave, and Maya is the equivalent of that for people who used 3dsmax. Not to the disadvantage of 3dsmax or Lightwave, but it's probably true that Maya and XSI have more features.
