Yearning to ride in a convoy

I saw 5 cop cars, 3 unmarked and a van hauling ass along a freeway and it has awoken a secret desire to ride in a convoy (or a sea based invasion force, or a fleet of helicopters like that part in COD4).

Has anyone been part of a convoy or invasion force and was it as cool as you envisioned?

I was in one in planetside beta and it was amazing. I remember it being like 7~ vehicles and we just ran up and down a continent owning everything.

I remember doing one in BF2. It was epic until we all got blown to hell by artillery and a attack helicopter.

But even that was pretty epic.

I was in a road trip to every skatepark we could find between California (northern) and Washington, and at times there were a number of vehicles (maybe ten at the most) as people tagged along. It was pretty cool. One of the vehicles was a flatbed truck which was the kitchen. This guy didn't skate, but was down for the trip and if we provided the food, he'd prepare it for us. Camping, skating, eating good food... With gas prices the way they are now, I don't know if it would be as enjoyable, but road trips with friends are all win.
