Yea it unlocked HL2 (not playable) and then you can preload like 0.5% more of HL2, which is the last preload obviously probably all the DLL's and EXE's and such

I think it's just unlocking all the HL2 files, and when the game is released the 16th, we'll get a final update which will contain exe's, and probably a file that takes off the preload screen and makes it playable.

god i come home from work and open up steam to continue my game and get a refresher of hl, and i see the word i have been waiting for "unlocking" and i almost died, then when i came too i found out it was just a source update

I thought it was a mistake or some weird hack, Cause, when you say "Unlocking" You know what kind of a reaction you're gonna get..LoL In a way, if you think about all the praise that gabe and co have gotten, you can't help but think they're gonna miss the comotion around here, as far as praise, negative remarks etc....

the 7th preload is the localization files so if your steam is set to other than english you'll get it.

Open the preloading status window for HL2. Pause and then unpause the download. That usually gets you unstuck.

Failing that, delete the ClientRegistry.blob file from your Steam folder and restart Steam. It will update itself with a fresh copy and then preloading should continue.
