It's a widley known and scientifically determined fact that a human's perception of time speeds up as they age. Children will experience a 6 week holiday as a vast amount of time and elderly people will see a year whizz past at great speed.

So bear this in mind as you read threads here. If somone is complaining about delays and appears not to be able to wait a few months more for a better game, there's a very high statistical chance they are just before, in the middle of, or just out of puberty.

Lesson over.

you ain't lying when i was in school time went by slowly, now i'm adult and time goes by way too fast. I still remember 2 christmases ago perfectly.

Lol.. Too true. Although I'm 27 and still pissed off with the hacker for this likely delay. :/

Crap I'm almost 40 and I'm pissed at this hacker induced delay ;)

Just because your older doesn't mean your more patient :),.... though my wife does refer to me as a "child" occasionally.

It's very true, I met up with an ex I hadn't seen in like 6/7 years, it only felt like a few months since we'd last spoken.. and meeting her the last time was just over a year ago now too, I barely noticed the passage of time, im only 26 and before I knew it its almost christmas, didn't I just finish putting away the decorations??.. oh wait yeah that really was only last week ;)

damn, that's why i feel like the time go faster... :(

yep immaturity, some people dont show their whole lives

Actually, time is speeding up. The reason that your perceptions change is related to the fact that time accelerates. However, as a child, your own perception of time will also make time appear to speed up, but it is in fact speeding up for everyone.

It's all very freaky concepts indeed.

bouche that made no sense, could you make it a little clearer?

yeah i agree Dagobert, adults have more stuff to think about and worry about, so time doesn't really become an issue. adults have so many things to do that time just flies by. kids on the other hand have school, games and weed, so everything is veeeeerrryyy sloooooowww. and most kids stay slow right into adulthood. here's to the human brain.

43+ and NOT a very patient person! Damn ... I want the game NOW! (although I WILL NOT download the beta).

what do you think the average age of users on these forums are? i reckon it's around 11. mods do you know the figure?

and as for the mental age of most users, well, around 4?

Unless you have AADD, adult attention deficit dis....screw this, i'm gonna go run around outside.

Concepts of time are tough to get across in words.

If time is accellerating, then your perception of time should follow. Everyone can notice right now that weeks seem to just wiz by.

Apparantly, the Earth's natural frequency has been increasing at a steady rate due to a decrease in earth's magnetism...

There's crazy sites all over the place. Some are selling sh|t to keep your body in tune with the earth's frequency, etc.

Check this out...

hmm...so if you get more in sync with the earth's frequency, theoretically you could eventually reach a bullet time state of time perception? well maybe not that drastic.

it was interesting until it got to the hocus pocus part about sending ruby lights down to the earth. i prefer scientific rigour to wishy washy stuff.

No kidding. I posted that link before I read the ruby light crap.

Point is though, smoke a bowl, and go searching for some stuff on time and earth frequencies. There's some interesting stuff.

Frequency, is a very deep subject. Check out stuff on brain frequencies.

I had this program called the "brainwave generator" that basically can set your brain to a certain frequency....like take you to different brain states. It can help with studying, sleeping, meditating, etc.

Mind you, you sometimes have to sift through a bunch of wacky stuff to find anything interesting.

hmm...i wonder if i can use one of these devices to control the minds of others. saaaaaayyy....use it on a publisher so he'll cough up enourmous amounts to fund my next game.

doesn't it freak anyone out that we can potentially change the way we're feeling with the flick of a switch. *flick* happy, *flick* sad, *flick* happy etc etc.

i may have to investigate this further, sounds interesting.

And kids/teens should be the only ones playing pc games. A man in his 30's playing PC games... what's the matter? can't devote his time to a loved one because he doesn't even have a woman in his life, so he plays PC games, laugh. Enough with the "I'm more mature than you" comments. This whole forum revolves around who is more mature than the other, whoop di frickin doo.

I am so sick of this discrimination. I am 14 and im not an idiot like these other so-called kids. If you said anything that discriminates because of a persons race, you would be seriously warned, if not banned, by a mod. But discrimination against someones age? Sure, why not!

Wankers.

its funny reading this thread and seeing how old some of these guys are. ive played raven shield with some old dudes and it was actually one of the best online gaming experiences ever. they're good, but when they lose they blame thier age. rock on guys

I can't tell if your being serious or sarcastic. If your being sarcastic I'll let it slide.

But if your being serious, what the hell?

There is nothing wrong with people in their 30's playing video games. Video games are fun and enjoyable and an escape from the burdens of real life. Real life stinks for the majority of people in this world. So if people can find an escape through video games, then I'm all for it.

I play video games for those same reasons. They are fun, enjoyable and an escape from the crappy real world.

And take a look at the game developers themselves. The majority of them are in their 30's as well.

Isn't Gabe in his 30's? John Carmack? etc.

(And if their not in their 30's, aren't they close to it?)

Oh, and lets not forget the rating system. A lot of these games are slapped with a M (Mature) rating in which you have to be older to buy and play the game anyway.

Maybe because it's the little bit of time to ourself that we actually get. It's not like we sit in front of the home computer 20+ hours a day, at most maybe get an hour undisturbed.

You'll see one day.

welcome to 2003, kid

bouche im not sure eactly if the speeding up of time would afect how we percieve it at all. I mean, if time suddelny stopped, and then started we wouldnt notice. We are kind of tied into time in a way that means it will always seems constant to us (Obviously time flies when you are having fun, but hats different) If time was a million times faster, we wouldnt notice.

When we look back and see think aobut how fast the time went by, its often because we didnt fill that time. Think of all the times you have sat not doing anything, even for 5 minutes. How about all the times you have played on the computer. Most of those experiences will be very similar, and although you may be able to remember them all, it will still blur together to give the effect of time flying by. If we all sat down and planned out how we used our time...i mean really planned it and filled it up to its maximum potential, then we would look back over the year and be amazed at how full it was.

Hudson, i know exactly what you mean. I dont like it when people make fun of someone because of their age. Its very illogical for one thing. I also dont like insults involving maturity. Maturity is something that is hard to gauge, and often what people percieve as maturity is in actual fact just an image someone projects and isnt the real them.

I know im going to be playing games when im 30..why not? After all, many people are being born fully into the computer age now, and playnig games is beomcing more mainstream. Its only natural that people will do it. Its certainly going to be considred better than TV.

If you're a child, then you know what that makes her? A pedophile. :cheese: Little Family Guy humor for ya...

-_- 6 months is half a ****ing year. That's 6 months of school that I will have to endure. Dammit, dammit, dammit. I would still buy the game if they increased the cost to 70 dollars or something to pay the Valve employees overtime for getting this game out before Christmas...

When I was younger, time felt a lot slower for me, my summer vacation felt like a year, now, I just had my last summer vacation-it felt like 2 weeks.
But then, when I read, 5 minutes feels like 50 minutes:(

Dude, I'm getting so much poonani it's a joke. I'm 30 years old, wealthy and playing games on a kickass PC with a beutiful wife. What's to laugh about?

You are living my dream!
When I grow up--I want to have that kind of success.
My parents are telling me that adults don't play games:( :bounce: :bounce:

Coupled with the fear of death, the idea of time going faster and faster as you age is really scary. It's sort of like being in a truck speeding into a brick wall 200 yards away and keep going faster and faster.

Im 20 and very impatient.. hit puberty a long time ago :)..

Im just too excited at this point for time to go fast.. i value my time to the minute.

Your parents are lying to you.

couldnt it be possible since when your younger, one day is a significantly bigger percentage of how much you have lived compared to when ur older?

kinda like how rich people wouldnt mind throwing 3k + on a comp (even tho i overheard a guy paying half a million for one.... holy shit!)

When i was 20 never thought I could be 44 one day!!
Think I will preorder my coffin and make a reservation in the cemetary, the way time accelerate i will just be right in time.
Just makes me think I'm actually half-lifed, only 44 years more to play games!!
