You know what would be awesome?

Buy it for the Xbox with improved graphics and play it on your 360.

no, not half life 2, half life 1. it would be great for the 360 owners who plan to buy the orange box to get caught up.

Mmmmmmmmmm...

Nah.

Edit - IchI was talking about Half-Life 1, it was released on the original Xbox. Pretty sure it's backwards compatible too, so it'd be kinda redundant.

The only advantage would be multiplayer with other on XBL, and everyone will be swarming to play Orange Box on there when it's released anyway.

The Gearbox port of HL1 wasn't released for Xbox.

Half-Life 2 for Xbox supports custom content, so you can run Half-Life: Source maps on Xbox. You can also use Counter-Strike for Xbox to play original Half-Life maps.

HL1 for the PS2. I remember playing the demo. It scared me. :(

Almost everyone has a computer nowadays, and you'd want a really shit computer not to be able to play HL1.

This is true.

It wouldn't happen anyway, because I believe Half life is too big for Xbox live Arcade.

Half-life is only about 400MB at most, most of the games on there are about that size

But you can play HL on almost any computer, if anybody really wants to get caught up they'd be better of buying it off the rack cheap for PC

The same applies to Doom four times over, and most of the other games on there could be emulated on PCs and are available on several other platforms. The only reason for reluctance is linked with the whole Steam hoo-har, since Valve are surely the market leader in online distribution and throwing Microsoft a bone in a market you dominate is never a wise idea.

Nope. The limit for XBLA games was 50mb, it's been raised to 150 after Castlevania.

The key word here is arcade. The most advanced games so far in terms of graphics are Doom and Marathon - and Castlevania, being a PS1 game, therefore probably the most recent. HL is way overkill.

Edit - Not to mention, based on content alone, how many freakin POINTS it would cost.

first of. . . i've played the Dreamcast version of Half-Life. . . i OWN the dreamcast version of half-life. . . it isnt that great. . .

now granted, it's with one joy stick instead of two. . .but regardless. . the speed of the game is overwhelming for two sticks imo. . .

(this is also why Halo is a slower paced FPS btw. . .slower works better for 2 sticks)

so really. . .

Keyboard and Mouse ftw

yes, you have said what most everyone knows. However, many like to sit back and "relax" while playing a game. Sitting on your couch while looking at a HDTV is more comfortable for most than sitting on a chair inches away from the monitor. I prefer PC for gaming myself, but still.

Heh, I've just been reminded that I actually tried the PS2 port of Half-Life awhile back. A friend and I started a coop game, got through the first part relatively easy, but died on the first two headcrabs. No shit. We COULD NOT aim the crowbar with the awkward-ass controls =/

Granted we gave up altogether after that one attempt (we hired it out of boredom in the first place), but still, would have never had that problem with mouse and keyboard. Not saying it's a superior control method, just saying it's what HL was designed for.
