Nintendo of Europe have confirmed what we had previously speculated, and also announced a very sexy looking surprise to be the number one in style this summer: A sleek black coloured DS Lite.

With other regions confirmed for a DS: Lite release, it seemed odd that Nintendo kept so tight lipped on when their little wonder would reach European shores.

The DS Lite, as previously rumoured, will reach Europe next month on the 23rd of June at an estimated retail price of £99 (149 Euros). The Lite won't be giving its older brother a boot off the shelves but instead adding a "premium" alternative to the already successful console.

The Lite weighs 60g less than the original DS and comes in at approximately 2/3 of the size. The redesign also features brighter screens and a larger, more comfortable stylus.

Europeans are set to have a style injection at launch with the exclusive black DS: Lite avaliable alongside the default white version, confirming previous rumours.

The only three colours we saw at this year's E3 were white, black and a rather gruesome sky blue.

The black DS Lite looks like a womans make-up compact. You know the mirror that flips up with the rouge? So, I'd get the white, but a silver one would be my preference if they had one. My brother has a silver GB advanced (I don't know what it's called, it's not a DS but it flips open.) and it's so sweet looking.
