OT: It seems a lot of the users here want to get involved in the games industry. Not unusual, considering it is a game forum, but I can see why the games industry is such a competitive job to get into.

I don't like competitiveness hence I don't like the game industry. I like some of the games that come from the game industry but I think I'd rather stay at home playing those games instead of working.
 
I also forgot to mention comic writer. I think I'll break into comics first, then move into novels, kinda like Neil Gaiman.

I'd like to do something in the game industry, maybe game design or journalism. If not that, a veterinarian or something would be cool too.
 
We should start a company. We would have like 30 employees right off the bat from this thread!
 
Trouble with the games industry, is that is it such a new area of work, not much is known about it, how to get into it, what path to take, and how to get there etc. I'm having trouble finding someone who knows a decent amount of information regarding the games industry in the first place.
 
Black Mesa corp, some guy here was talking about this school in Washington named Digipen Technical Institute. Check it out. This same guy also claims to have been recommended to that school by Gabe Newell himself.

I live in the UK :( If I happened to be in the US, I would definitely go there, especially if Gabe had recommended it. If only he could recommend one in the UK.

But how much would that cost (Traveling and such overbroad) as opposed to a UK University? I suppose the exchange rate may mean I don't have to spend 'as much' but... I won't blank the idea completely. Thanks for the advice.
