What it your best keyboard config?

I use the arrow keys for movement, ctrl for jump, shift to duck, key 0 for sprint and enter for use.
I find this very easy since all the important buttons are in easy reach and I can react a lot quicker than the normal WASD config.

WASD, but with my binds, therefore all weapons are "at my finger tips" hehe. Binds=teh help in DM.

crowbar and grav gun is on my MX510 on the side buttons.

i use wasd and q for sprint space for jump shift for duck z for zoom side mouse button for reload. rest default

Apart from Delete and End, those keys have been my configuration for just about every FPS I've played.

ESDF for basic movement. R for use. Everything else is default.
Same. With ESDF, your fingers are in typing position, you can feel the F key, and you have more keys available to you (without moving your hand).

I dont know why devs decided on WASD, except that it was just 'habit'. And now is accepted as such.

o thats because i forgot to add the wait5,25, and 100 commands.

alias "wait5" "wait;wait;wait;wait;wait"
alias "wait25" "wait5;wait5;wait5;wait5;wait5"
alias "wait100" "wait25;wait25;wait25;wait25"

it should work now, its not great, and i rarely use it, b/c it still takes skill, but its great for quickly throwing the nade at least.

o and i made another script, not sure how this will work as i haven't tested it yet.

alias "+gravpickup" "phys_swap;+attack2"
alias "-gravpickup" "-attack2;phys_swap"

bind mouse5 "+gravpickup"

o and to comradebadger: No.

like I said, i rarely use them, they dont work well. And heheh. theres no way I'd even be a challenge to you from what i heard, but maybe.

RDFG for movement.

ALT = Sprint

Z = duck

Space = Jump

T and Y for reload and use

All other buttons around are weapons.

Weapon scripts are evil. :p

Defaults for movement...

Q is talk, since fastswitch is slower then me hitting 2->fire to switch

.that is all.

I agree with CommanderBadger, I dislike weapon scripts lots. Only script I've ever been confertable with is Buy Scripts in CS...

ok then, maybe we could 1v1 at hl2dm once.

Keys:

Home - Forward
End - Back
Insert - Left
Page Up - Right
Page Down - Phys swap
Enter - Sprint
Backspace - Use
Up Arrow - Gren/Slam/RL
Down Arrow - Crouch
Left Arrow - GGun
Right Arrow - Jump
Print Scroll - Magnum

Mouse:

MWHEEL UP - Shotgun
MWHEEL DOWN - SMG
MWHEEL Button - Reload
RMB - Fire
LMB - Alt Fire
Side Button 1 - Crossbow
Side Button 2 - Combine Rifle

Everything I need at the touch of a button.

There should be a regular bash on the hl2 server. Anyone interested?

I'm a kind of experimental person and I've always been looking for the perfect setup. I've tried everything from stuff like
a - left
s - back
d - forward
f - right
which gives too few fingers free (unless you have a monster mouse to compensate) but is very fast, to
e - forward
d - back
r - left
t - right
which gives many fingers free but isn't really confortable.
But no matter what I try I always end up with the default. It kind of disturbs me that it is so difficult to find something that beats it. Anyway, I think I will be stuck to wasd for a long time (or rather ,aoe for us dvorak users :E )

Man that was disorientating.. I was trying it out and it felt so wierd ;( , like vertigo or something..

I'm surprised that most of you use "Z" or "Ctrl" for crouch.. I hate reaching down there, so I basically use the default configuration, but instead of having crouch binded to "Ctrl" I have it binded to my Caps Lock key.. whereas for Prophet's config, for me it would be the "s" key.

I don't use binds whatsoever.. I just hit 4 twice for the crossbow, 5 twice for the rocket launcher, etc..
