Your favourite monster from HL1/2?

I hate the Ichtyosaur!!!! It always manges to get me all phobic and s*it!:p

HL1: Female Assasins (It is enjoyable when after a 5 minute fight trying to kill them, you manage to shoo them with the crossbow!:D)

HL2: STRIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!:D
 
At the risk of giving a stale answer: Vortigaunts. I can hardly wait to fight alongside them.

For HL2 the AntLions look like a satisfying enemy because a) you can control them at points (feel the power) and b) they look like they crunch in a great way, as did the Xenomorphs in AvP.
 
Well, I dunno if this counts, but Nihilanth was kick ass. One of the coolest bosses ever. He had all the elements of being a good final boss:

1) You must destroy/move/engage something that allows you to damage the boss.

2) Different ways to attack and/or piss you off.

3) Ability to summon lesser monsters to kick your ass.

4) The boss must be ****ing huge.

5) Eventually, shooting the bastard thing full of lead/plasma/rockets etc. leads to a kick ass dying sequence.

Nihilanth has all those things. It was awesome.
As for HL2, I wish that the Garg could make a suprise return to City 17, but I doubt it. So I'm gonna go with the next best thing and say a Strider.
 
i always enjoyed the bullsquid, although I do wonder why only humans got pulled up with the barnacles...

for HL2, i don't know yet.. possibly the combine
 
My favorite HL monster of all time would be Jesus. I remember fighting him at the very end and then finally when I got him up on the cross, I stabbed him with that sword.

In other words,
Jesus+death=satisfying^2
 
Well, my favorite ones to fight and kill are the soldiers, I think it'll be the same way with the Combine too. But my favorite creature is the alien slave, they are so cool. I'm glad they are on our side this time. I also liked the Houndeyes. Honorable mention to the barnacles and tentacles for uniqueness, and Icthyosaur for scare factor. And Snarks just plain rock.
 
Alien Slave. They loved to ambush, but all it took was one revolver shot to the face. And they dropped.
 
As I've stated many times long ago, I've looked forward to seeing if the houndeye makes a return to HL2. I'd love to see their EMP wave or whatever in Source, and their eyes would just be incredible. Not to mention I loved their howl. :)
 
The marines and the female assasins(as annoying as they were) i think they were hot in this tight leather suits

but my favorite from HL1 = the vortigaunt. weeee, shotgun rush!
 
my old, all time favourite has to be those little pig like dogs.
that wobble around then produce a loud screech and like let out an explosion of electricity!!

I liked the lasers right at the start of HL1, they cut things well

Could someone also tell me the name of the huge monster in OpFor that fired those laser things? They hung out in dark sewers a lot.
 
that was the something worm......... it was.... dammit. I shall Christen it the Sewer Worm.

Since it seems that people aren't sure what you mean, I'm going to jump on the "Hung out in dark sewers a lot" and guess that you mean those big Race-X Voltigores, the ones that fire the pinky-purple plasma blasts...
 
Killing houndeyes was the worst, they just made the most pathetic doglike whimpering as they died, made me feel bad.... ;(

The Ichtyosaur was just plain evil, I sure hope fighting underwater is a lot easier in HL².
 
Sometimes the Bullsquid made a funny sound when you killed it. Like a long whine. Kinda sad too.

The HoundEyes were cute.
 
My favorite guy to fight where the alien slaves. Wow, those where fun. Especially when they ambush you, take a few seconds to charge up... SHOTTY!!

The coolest enemy where the marines. They where ANNOYING. I hate it how they drop grenades, so when you try to chase them...
 
My favorites were those tentacles that kept banging inside that that one shaft... that was hot.
 
Bullsquid is up there along with the sound sensitive worm thing, I hope HL2 has a mobile version. In fact i hope theres alot of enemy's in HL2 we have no knowledge about

apparantly HL2 has 50 different enemies :D
 
Believe it or not, I' m an Itchyosaur fan. They weren’t that good in the game but I’ve made a few interesting mods with them; one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen was watching the Itchyosaurs in my level crawl across the floor and eat scientists. :LOL:
 
hl2: hmm the jumping zombies from the graveyard video... or striders. although enemies we don't know about sound exciting as well. hydra looks interesting as well...

hl1: the controllers were my favs i think. i liked the cool weird sounds they made as they levitated around. gonarch was pretty badass as well. although the whole nutsack that sprays you with white stuff was kinda... yeahhhh...
 
HL - Vortigaunts/Alien Grunts
OP4 - Pit Worm
HL2 - Too early to tell yet, but I think the Hydra is pretty kickass
 
My favorite is the Alien Slave also, but... in Half-Life 2 so far form what i've seen, it's going to be the Zombie :thumbs:
