In this my thread, you post your first post (you can find it if you do a search for your name, but sort by date in ascending order)

Well, I just checked just the first page of your total posts, and it doesn't seem to me that your posts haveany higher level of maturity hollywood's posts do.
Anyway, I think I saw that CS movie, and the voice acting was pretty good, If I remember. I would suggest you DO join the mod, as it would help me not have to do voice acting, too.

BTW, hollywood, I could've sworn you said I was your concept artist.

...And it looks like you're banned. I don't know how this forum works, whether they give you custon titles or not, and whether that is one, but if it isn't, well...a pity, I'm afraid I won't be carrying on our conversation.

I guess this is less embarrassing than most first posts, but still. I was talking about the "Opposing Shephard" mod, which I was a part of. eengh.

Hi folks!,my names Ryan,I'm 15,and I am a huge Half-Life fan
As my sn suggests,I utilize the Half-Life crossbow alot, and most my fighting, single or multi,is done at long range

A. Horrible grammar, I have come a long way.
B. I shouldn't have done a "formal" introduction (horrible grammar is never formal)
C. Thanks Delusional!

This sounds truly excellent guys! Hi, I am dek, and I am very, very new here. I remember a MOD for battlefield 1942 going around once, that was meant to be like this. don't know what happened though. Anyway. I am not a coder or skinner or something like that, but if it's ok, I would like to participate in the construction of this MOD, even if it's something small. and besides, Half-life 2 isn't out yet, and I have never tried Hammer before, so I might learn, and I have always wanted to do something to do with computers. See you all later!
04-06-2004 @ 7:56PM was the start of the downfall of Sourceworld.

EDIT: I had pretty nice grammar even back then.
EDIT2:

I would give it about 8 months. Around that time, the mods will start releasing some stuff.
In reference to when mods for HL2 would be released. March 2005.

How'd the Alien's get to earth?

In Half Life 1, you did an experiment with a "sample" of something from "xen". When the sample was "tested" it ripped a hole in the border world, alowing alinens to apper on earth by teleports.

Why'd the Alien's come to earth?

'cause

Are the mutan'ts part of the Alien's in suits, meaning are they on the same team?

If you mean the things with the ripped open chests....no. Those are headcrab Zombies, also known as "mawman" (cause of their chests). When a headcrab latches onto a human and penetrats the skull, that happens.

What are the Alien's planning to do to the earth?

The usual...domonation,suck all resoures, create more troops, the usual.

Who are those nice Alien's that give you a power up once in a while and call you the ''Freeman''? Are they part of the other Alien's?

Vortigaunts, they were enslaved but you saved em. (kinda by acident though)

Who is Dr Freeman?

(Hint: You play him) Gorden Freeman was a scientist who did an experiment that opend the border world.

Not bad I have to say...

And Toaster? I love your sig.

:( Well, I never got to introduce myself, so, let me start here guys:
*steps up to microphone*

H-h-hi. My name is... zombieturtle. I am not new here. but hi. this is my introductory post. I like bagels, with cream cheese on th-them.... I like kittens. Uhm, I, I like Half-Loaf games, I-

*hl2.net crowd* "BOOOOOOO, BOOOOOOO, SHUT UP!!!"

but I-I! *breaks down in tears and runs off stage*

from the whiteboard incident thread 05/05 2004

hmmm maybe it's this: http://www.gamegossip.com/pressrelease.php?id=7512

maybe they're talking about starting the DISCover version of HL2...maybe it means "start discovery process"..which means in law terms when a lawyer questions the other party to find out information to build a case ....maybe I have absolutely no clue as to what they mean...

btw I'm new here, been reading for awhile but this is my first post, so be gentle :)

I was just so nice back then ..till hl2.net corrupted my soul

actually, my first post was a thread, about my headcrab/zombie suit

I made the headcrab, the suit, the gloves, everything. The headcrab and rib cage is made from foam (the kind you find in your couch) and latex. The Zombie hands are made from rubber gloves, duct tape, wire, and latex.

The headcrab shape isn't perfect, but I think it's close enough

This summer I plan on making a headcrab mask that I can actually see out of and that will fit me perfectly

Despite the other game based movies being horrible, I still think this movie should be done. I looked at quite a few forums discussing the cast topic
and I'm surprised nobody suggested William B. Davis (the actor who played
the cigarette smoking man in X-files) to play the G-man.
After all the G-man was probably inspired from that character in the first place.

Yes, that's right, I registered here to talk about the posibility of a Half Life movie...

"TF 2 will be sold as a stand-alone SKU at retail, over Steam, and, I am sure, at some point it will get put in the same box as HL-2.
I'm sure that isn't hard to understand either. Gabe didn't say "outside of the same box as HL2" or "get put in a different box." He said "At some point it will get put in the same box as HL2."

BTW, the email was 2 lines.

Nested quoting, for your convenience.

I also posted this as a reply to the thread that my original post was in. I'm smart.

I recall some of my earlier posts being about how they should make HL figures. And Note2Self made fun of me and called me childish because I liked figures. So I got into a big fight with him.
And then everyone laughed at both of us for fighting. :( But I was right, toys are cool!

I remember back when I joined I just shared some random HL2 info in the "information from VALVe only thread."

I got in to off-topic by accident and the very first thread I took a look at was Mr. Reak's thread about having helped a woman prevent herself from suiciding (or something along those lines).

At first I was, "Damn, Mr Reak helps people and eh doesn't afraid of anything." But then it struck me when he said, "and no, I don't believe in any god, so stfu."

I was so concerned I sent him a PM asking him why he didn't believe in God.

Yeah, I was into Jesus back then.

How the times change!

I though the same of you when you posted your first post in the degeneration thread.

Hey everyone, I've been browsing through this forum for a few days now, but just started posting. Hoping to burn off some of this wait until 9/30 chatting with you all. If you ever want to talk to someone in-depth about all-things HL, especially Xenobiology, I'm your man.

Oh you.

Jesus, I just noticed you joined a month before me. How the hell have you got so many posts?!
He's a very kinky girl, the kind you don't take home to mother.

That's the real me. I'm careful to conceal it, but that's a glimpse at the true Darkside. You see,

*takes a drag on his cigarette*

I never really was on your side.

this place does ...strange things to your mind ..fortunately I keep the screaming voices in my head at bay ..usually with a q-tip or a powerdrill

I couldn't agree more - anyone who acts in such a rude way to such things (even though they can be annoying) is a complete ass. You don't act like this in real life - so why online???

Started by moaning :/ What a complete arse :)

I don't think I can find my first post. :( This saddens me.

If anybody else is a super search guru, please tell me how, or find mine for me.

I found my first thread I think though. September 13th 2003.

TOPIC: Not nitpicking to nitpick. Just curious.

Hello... the topic is the disclaimer, so please don't flame me

Anyways... I was watching the tunnels movie, with the flying chopper things. When Gordon first sees the first chopper, it hits a slanted leaning plank of wood(or two I think). Anyways... I noticed that the planks broke off completely different than where the thing hit em.

The image I have here, is just as it hits it from the top half, and the wood splinters at the middle half.

http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/sap...Half-break.jpg

What I am wondering, is do we have to model each little fragment line, or will the computer model it for us, IE being able to break almost anywhere it is mathematically possible? If thats the case, it seems to be slightly flawed here.

The other question I had was about normal mapping. Normal mapping, watching the video is great, but what happens when we walk RIGHT UP to the normal mapped surface... with our nose right up to it. Will we be able to tell it is flat, or will it still look 3d? Also, what if we look at that very same, 1 polygon flat normal mapped wall surface from a completely parrallel angle? As if it were made into a box, and we looked flush down one side of it as we turned the corner. It'd look COMPLETELY flat, right? Hmm

I believe that more npcs give a more realistic feeling to the game especially considering how believable they are now Valve will definitely improve on them. Like Alyx that will give us more of an emotional attachment to some of them for example Alyx I see that many treated her like a real person in episode 1. In the end I see that more Alyx should be seen in ep2 but not too much rebel npcs even though it's going to be a tough battle in ep2 with the hunters and all.

Same here that wasn't too long ago but what the heck I posted it anyways.:p
I think I mentioned too much about Alyx there though.

I saw a quote by a Nintendo Rep. and she said something like:

"If people were influenced by video games, we'd all be fat, painted up in yellow chasing little white pills around."

Older people say that the reason violence in teens is strong is because of music and video games while they're actually just looking for something to blame it on. I don't know about you but I don't feel like 'cappin' a foo' after I listen to some Snoop Dogg or feel like screwin' a hooker then shootin' her to get my money after playing GTA. All video games are is an escape. If you want realistic violence...

...Turn on the news.

Awesome first post is awesome. I actually remember typing that.

Second post fails, though.

I'm not interested in steam though. I want a hard copy.

Second: The one I mentioned before.

This whole business of treating shadows as objects added on to the world after lighting gets tricky fast. No wonder nature doesn't do it that way. Too complicated :D
Too complicated? So they cant fix that problem in the source code? Or will it just take a genius and it is possible.?.?.?
Dont know much about the technical stuff but I think what you may be getting at is the shadowing problem that ive seen in the hl2 demo movies. Like when the player is lifting a container with a magnetic crane you see the container's shadow AND you can see the cricular magnet's shadow inside of the container's shadow. Ive also seen this problem with objects on top of tables and you can see their shadow on the floor as if the table was translucent.
Make me so angy!
(maybe they will have it fixed in the end, i hope i hope i hope i hope.)

I'm so weird... what the hell is this ".?.?.?"

Anyone with a 2ghz,256mb ddr, radeon 9600/9700/9800 or equilivant should have no problem running HL2 on high detail. Howether people using GF2 like cards should be able to run it aswell but with quality alot lower i.e. lower texture res. Ofcourse all mappers know the R-Speeds conundrem so the map construction will be a major factor.

Heh R-Speeds, bloody VIS.

Everybody is like "don't flame me please :(" on their first posts.
