With all the great films out there, thought this would be an interesting topic. This refers to a specific scene in a film/movie that you just found utterly fantastic. I shall start.

For me, it would be in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, whereby the Battle of Minis Tirith is going more and more in the orcs favor, and with the Witch King owning Gandalf, only for the Horn of Rohan to be heard in the distance.

The build up to the charge and the charge itself was just jaw-dropping, a feast for the eyes.

Your turn!

Don't have a particular favourite moment, but the scene in Godfather II, where Michael Corleone realises his older brother Fredo Corleone has betrayed him has always stuck in my mind.

The scene at the end of that About Schmidt where the old guy reads the letter he received from the child.

It was quite powerful I must say.

"There was a FIREFIGHT!" scene. Kudos to who ever knows what I'm talking about.

The part in Murderball when the new guy gets a chance to roll around in one of the murderball chairs. It's hard to find a moment more uplifting than that.

Well it's in your sig. ;)

For me, I think the best film scene I was blown away by was the intro scene to "Goldeneye".

I never saw a Bond film and had wanted to go see "Toy Story" instead. I had no idea what was coming, but boy that made me a Bond fan immediately.

Has to be the scene in Fight Club:

'I want you to hit me...as hard as you can..'

Jaws, the guys sitting around, drinking and sharing stories.

'.... Sometimes that shark he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes ....'

Agreed. I sat down and watched Jaws a few months ago on Tv, and I was like damn, this is a pretty good movie. Might pick it up on DVD some time.

The scene of the final exorcism of Reagan McNeil in The Exorcist.

"Your mother sucks cocks in Hell, Karras. You faithless slime!"

The ending of Shawshank Redemption, for sure. The most uplifted I've ever felt by a film.

The end of Scarface, the big shoot out... "say hello to my lil friend!"

haha it never gets old.

Artificial Intelligence... at the end of the movie when David is with his mother for the last time, it's a beautiful but sad scene.

Titanic... when it's just Rose and Jack on that little piece of wood.

The Last of The Mohicans. The final scene on the mountain with the most perfect ending song ever.

Platoon... when Elias is being chased by a huge number of Vietnamese soldiers.

Akira... "you're the king of the hill now, BUT IT'S ALL GARBAGE!"

I know I'm forgetting a lot of great movies here though.

-Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade-
The Leap of Faith

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. I will have my vengeance, in this life... or the next." - Maximus Decimus Meridius

This'll sound pretty weird but, during this episode of six feet under( i think it was the first ep of season 5), Nate is super stressed about his recently diseased wife, so he has a smoke and goes for a run. He runs into this still shot, looking depressed, confused etc and then runs into the darkness( you gotta see it to really appreciate what im talking about). Anyway, that shot did so much more to express how he felt then any ofcontrived CSI/LOST conversations that spells out how not only how the characters feel but what is happening( in a very unrealistic manner).

for some weird reason it always stuck with me.

Can't limit it to just one. Any way...

Blue Velvet - "Don't be a good neighbor to her. I'll send you a love letter. Straight from my heart, ****er! Do you know what a love letter is? It's a bullet from a ****ing gun. You receive a love letter from me, you're ****ed forever! Do you understand, ****? I'll send you straight to hell, ****er!" - Frank Booth

Videodrome - "Long live the new flesh." - Max Renn prior to blowing his brains out after watching himself do it on a TV.

Terminator 2 - The T-1000 getting frozen, shattered, and then reforming to continue pursuit.

Batman - When Joker fries that guy to death with a handbuzzer and then proceeds to make small talk with his corpse.

Millennium (Season 2) - In the episode "The Curse Of Frank Black", the two scenes where he meets Crocell are just great. Some deranged, ex-war hero rambling about the afterlife while sucking on ash.

Although I haven't seen season 5, I stopped at season 3 (what a BIG letdown - planning to carry on when I'm bored); in the pilot, the shot where he is running and stops and sees his dad at the bus stop was an awesome scene, thats always stuck with me.

Six Feet Under has so many great moments in it that it's nearly impossible for me to pick one out. But if I had to go for the sheer surprise factor, it would have to be David butt-****ing a male prostitute in public when the cops show up. :|

Lost in Translation: (amazing movie, must see)

When Bob and Charlotte say their goodbyes in the street. I was heart-broken.

Hostel-When he realizes the whole thing was a set up, runs over the people who ****ed him over, then having them splattered by the oncoming car.

Shaun of the Dead- When Ed and Shaun say their goodbyes.

28 Days Later-When they escape the Miltary base, and save him.

Not that great, but I loved them

Pretty much all the scenes in LiT were memorable. Love the scene where the camera shows the reflection of the window showing Bob and Charlotte sitting on the bed and Tokoyo; feels so Blade Runner'ish. Also when their running in the street getting shot by the paintball gun. One of the few movies I can watch so many times and not get bored.

Damn, I get the exact same feeling. It's so warm and fun. One of my favourite scenes is them in the apartment and singing; great stuff.

LiT is a really good film but I can't think exactly why.

Lost In Translation is a damn good film, and its name couldn't be more appropriate. Every scene has an understated, almost ethereal glow to it that conveys something I simply can't quite put my finger on. I fall into a calm trance every time I watch it, as if it's sucking me into its alien-yet-familiar world.

Thought I would add some others :D

Die Hard - Right at the end, he is about to face off with Hanz, and he is in such a state but he sees the christmas rappings. I just thought it brilliant, how McClane drops of SMG and just as Hanzs repeats his 'Yippeekayai Mother ****er', he starts laughing, the christmas music from the intro to the film comes on, before the camera pans to his back where his two barretas lie, before knocking them out and shooting both the bad guys with the two bullets remaining.

Collateral - Now I don't hear about this film too much and I dont know why, I thought it was a brilliantly original film, really, really believable. The ending was one of the best I have seen. The 'Guy. Gets on a subway. Dies. Think anybody'll notice?', last words coming from Vincent before he dies (as thats what Max was telling Vincent right at the start of the film). Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise were exellent in this film.

Watching Apocalypse Now for the first time, in 2001... it was actually the Redux version, watched it in theaters with my dad.

The raid on that small village with Ride of the Valkyries playing was epic.

Haha, i just reread my post..the last few sentences are pretty incoherent..w/e:)

it gets better, 3 is definitely the worst of the three, 4 is really good and 5 is back up the quality of the first 2( seasons), save one side story.:)

Loved the movie, but the ending was my least favourite part. Not that it sucked, but pretty much everything after he crashed the cab is only half as good as the rest of the film to me. Just got too... Hollywood.

Oh. Yes.

Spider-Man 2 - Basically the end scene. Being a fan and all that, watching that scene with Spidey swinging through the city to a rousing orchestral tune. It was pretty sweet for webhead geeks.

The Mask - Even with all the special effects, comedy and set dance routines, my favourite moment is still Jim Carrey shouting "ONE FRIGGIN' EYE!" Always tickles me. :D

Empire - "I am your father". Awesome.

Ehhh, there's so many more to add. I'll do it when they can be quoted from other people.

Shawshank Redemption ending was the best ending ever, so yeah. The opening scene in Godfather I is also among the very best scenes ever.

Goldeneye - The Gas tank room in the Russian base at the start. A raging Kalashikov gunfight and lines like "You fool! You'll blow the gas tanks!" and "For England James, blow them all to hell!" make it one of my favorates

A Bridge Too Far - the "I'm sorry, we don't have the facilities to take you all prisoner" scene.

A New Hope - On the death star where Han and Chewie run into the the room full of storm troopers then very rapidly run back out.

Transformers: The Movie - Optimus Prime landing at autobot city, wtfpwning half the decepticons, the epic fight with Megatron and then his death. :E to ;( so very quickly.

Far too many others to list.

Greatest ever

That scene gives my heart a jump every time I see it, even though I know what happens. Total win.

uhm, I think we can all agree that the best film moment of all time was in the classic Baby Geniuses 2: Superbabies-

Stan Bobbins: We'll become the McDonalds of babies.
Jean Bobbins: Great, we'll be known as McBaby.

-F*CKING HILARIOUS!!
