Your most memorable scene in any video game? [SPOILERS, duh]

thats what I have pulled from the game (I lost hold on the story during what may have been crucial parts.

Those be some Ultranationalists boy. :p

Defeating Bagan in Super Godzilla for the SNES. **** yeah button mashing.

so wait, the Spets aren't part of Russia's army?

now you got me confused.

There's quite some memorable stuff in Deus Ex too.

Walton Simons. I love killing the bastard. One of my favorite DX characters.

I didn't pay much attention either, but from what I know the Russians we fought in COD4 were a bunch of Ultranationalists fighting for Imran. They weren't really a part of the Russian military as far as I know.

Werent the SAS fighting russian mercenaries during that whole campaign? Then the real russians militants came through at the end, they looked badass with their ushankas.

then why were they called the Spetsnaz in the Multiplayer, especially when you fight the SAS.

Thread is spoiler tagged just in case anybody would be stupid enough to walk into a 'GREATEST GAMING MOMENTS' thread without realising there'd be some big ones in there.

There is so much

CoD 4 - All ghillied up
The whole mission.

HL2 EP2
* The scene at the end where dog fights the strider
* And the scene where the advisor blows trough the roof.

God of War II
* Colossus fight at the beginning
* When you land on atlas

MGS:
Psycho Mantis fight
Bad Ending

Bioshock:
When you kill Ayn Rand

Psychonauts:
The whole ****ing game

Oh and did I say I was listening to the koyanniqatsi soundtrack while I was writing this.

Is it bad that I can't recall anything significant? *prods brain*

I guess maybe that moment I turned on the N64and the things popped up. That was pretty surreal.

then why were they called the Spetsnaz in the Multiplayer, especially when you fight the SAS.

The bad Russkies in COD4 were a seperatist group of Ultranationalists.

The good Russkies you fight with(and who save you at the end)were Loyalist government special forces.

Pretty much all of Deus Ex!!!!
The ending of Metal Gear Snake Eater. A lot of Metal Gear BTW.
The ending of Half-Life and Episode 2.

MGS2: Solidus " Oh, and by the way Jack, I was the one who killed your parents".

Morrowind: "You have contracted corpus"
Me: "God dammit..."

Morrowind: "You've been awakened by a strange noise"
Me: *Turn around to see DB assassin in my face*

In Morrowind when you kill the heart at the final boss, also..

Actually, there is lots more for Morrowind.. It's such an awesome game..

Saint's Row: *boat blows up*
Me: "...that was gay."

Flashpoint, when you're on that mission where your whole team dies..

Saint's Row: *boat blows up*
Me: "...that was gay."
Yes.

Which reminds me - Assassin's Creed ending. I don't think I've ever hated myself so much for finishing a game.

  • "This train is inbound from the level 3 dormitories"
  • "Is it over, Yuri?"
"No comrade premier, it has only begun."
  • "Time...Dr Freeman?"
  • "Would you kindly?"
  • "Prepare for...unforseen conciquences"
  • "KAAAAAANNNNEEE LIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVVEEEEESSSSS"

*chants* peace through power, peace through power, peace through power

Kane lives in death! Kane lives in death!

I'll never forget 45100

System Shock 1 - 4510
System Shock 2 - 45100
Bioshock - 4510

hardy har har

The beginning of Half-life 1 for the very first time.

It was something totally new in an FPS game. I remember being amazed that they put all of those cinematic, scripted sequences at the beginning. I was hooked from then on.

When time stops at the end of HL2. My thoughts were something like: *Alyx stops in midsentence* "Crap, something screwed up the game. Wait, there's the G-Man. The G-Man screwed up the game!"

A bunch of stuff from Psychonauts. Particularly, going into a mind for the first time, getting stuck in the static in the brain-tumbler experiment, Sasha's mind, Lloyd's mind, and some of Lungfishopolis.

The dream sequences in Max Payne.

Aeris ('nuff said)

Surviving the fire in Portal.

KotOR's famous twist.

Oh, and for being "memorable" (not necessarily in a good way), watching the opening scene of Final Fantasy X-2 after beating Final Fantasy X. That was one of the biggest "WTF" moments in my gaming life.

Everything from Psychonauts was memorable. Even the Giant... Hairless... Bear.

And of course... "Once again, the world is quick to bury me."

And "How was I supposed to prepare for an ambush BY MY OWN FORCES?!?!?!"

The intros to HL and Hl2 were awesome - especually the lab scene. The opening to HL is the best i've seen. OoT also deservers a mention - Link waking up and finding Navi, the music, setting, and how it all blends so well. I boot up OoT every year of so just to play the first 20 mintues.

When time stops at the end of HL2. My thoughts were something like: *Alyx stops in midsentence* "Crap, something screwed up the game. Wait, there's the G-Man. The G-Man screwed up the game!"

For me that was one of the worst endings evers, i was honestly thinking "what!? Thats it? Fs"

Agro's scene before the final colossi in Shadow Of The Colossus and the later scene with him.

The beginning of HL1 and the beginning of HL2

Approaching the final colosseum in Shadow of the Colossus, Agro falling (as someone said) seeing the final colossus, as well as the superb ending and so many other jawdropping vistas in that game.

Ico:
Opening the main gate and trying to escape with Yorda, and my D: face of incomprehension as she keeps falling and can't keep up. Lots of scenes of vertiginous architecture. Also the ending to that game.

The Fortress of Regrets and endgame of Planescape: Torment where
you see your party members die one by one and you come face to face with your other fundamental incarnations

The general feeling I got from Baldur's Gate when entering towns like Beregost and Baldur's Gate itself - like finally I felt like I was playing the ultimate sword'n'sorcery RPG.

aaaand.... Hitman 2:
The penultimate mission which is a set-up. To my retarded shame I couldn't figure out that
my sniper rifle was filled with blanks and that I was shooting at a cutout
until I had entered the building and gone right up to the 'target'. At that point the sudden influx of enemies and the clone sniper at the window were all 'OH SHI-' moments. Also, the final level in the church - great.
