Your most recent hardware purchase

Which two buttons are you referring to? Shift?

The 'normal' version:

The Euro version:

The | \ button is also next to the Enter button so the one on the left is redundant. I'd rather have had the big Shift button like the 'normal' version.

Well that's just silly now. I thought you were questioning the appearance of two Shift keys. Man, I'd find it annoying to have to change default key configs because of my keyboard's arrangement, seeing as how backslash would become the new Sprint key.

Man, I was expecting an onslaught of "Wow, great deal Top Secret." and perhaps a "Way to go!" or two. :(

cheap price I gues , although speakers dont have much sex appeal

my recent purchase:

500g Western digital caviar black hard drive. it was on sale. My first non-seagate drive. I could have bought a larger drive but thought it's not worth it as I'll just end up buying a SSD drive when they drop to relatively affordable prices

A fair assumption on the SSD. I dictated to my friends months ago that I wouldn't buy another drive unless it was SSD. However, I just have too much media so I plunked down $100 bucks for a 1.5 TB drive.

Also, have no fear about the WD. Their quality has gone up tremendously, while Seagates has dropped somewhat.

Usually when recommending a hard drive to non-computer people this is how the convo goes:

"Hey, is this harddrive any good?"

"Is it Maxtor?"

"No."

"Yeah."

they were aquired by seagate in 2006, as far as I know they make mostly extrenal drives

Just get whatever kind they don't sell at Wal-Mart and it should be fine.

But I rely on the reviews.
