I dont get it with Breen, he was ofcourse nice, but I am f*cking angry about the "mad laughter" when your at his office. Breen is not mad, he's just hungry for power and maybe a little stressed about being crushed by the Combine. Ofcourse this madness couldve been decided by Laidlaw, but anyway it was a big huge minus for Half-Life 2. Why does the Bad Guy always have to be a nutcase?

Typically bad guys are mad, insane, sociopaths, you name it. Hence that's why they're fighting society because they can't cope with other people. Breen is the evil mastermind (kind of) and is of course mad. Why wouldn't he be? He completely surrendered the human race to some alien scum. The madness stems of course from power ("absolute power corrupts absolutely") and greed. Besides, name a movie, book, or game where the bad guy isn't a nutcase?

I really don't think Breen is mad, but more under the sway of the Combine Advisor. It has the ability to dominate the minds of other beings, and has clearly worked its magic on Breen.

I don't think power drives Breen either ("Not a man whoever sought the spotlight"), I think its a thirst for knowledge that keeps him going.

Breen isn't mad; he's just got a different perspective on things. He truly believes he's helping humanity but that won't stop him gloating at his enemies - wouldn't you? And he doesn't have an evil madman laugh. He has a nerdy little chuckle.

1. Eli (cuz i used to watch sports night and the actor that does the voice was one of the stars.
2. Alyx
3. Combine radio chatter voice (wish i had a program that would let me turn what i say into my mic into that voice, so awesome)
4. Kleiner (everytime i hear, great scott!!! gordon freeman!! i just picture the man who does the voice, hes a huge fat guy, just makes me laugh, the voice doesnt go with his body)
